Re: Fordham 2011
Now that I sent back the Financial Aid Award Letter, is there anything I need to do or do I wait for them to send me forms?
Also, who's looking for housing in the city that's close by but outside of actually getting into the dorms?

I'm officially going to be in a dorm, got my assignment and all. Anyone else going that route, or am I the only TLSer in a dorm?
And we'll see who's laughing when I don't have to go outside should there be another blizzard for all of spring

Ditto. What neighborhoods are people looking in? I don't think Brooklyn is going to cut it for me any longer...Gotti wrote:i'd rather save $700/monthNYC Law wrote:I'm officially going to be in a dorm, got my assignment and all. Anyone else going that route, or am I the only TLSer in a dorm?

I'm looking anywhere on the West Side from West Village (my bf will live there) up to Upper West. Preferably 40s-70s.LS-boundNYC wrote:Ditto. What neighborhoods are people looking in? I want to do that, but obviously with roommates (who are also going to Fordham).
Splitting an apartment (even if it costs on the higher end) between like 4 people would be perfect IMO.

If 4 people live in one place, you better hope for 2 bathrooms.Lolek wrote:I want to do that, but obviously with roommates (who are also going to Fordham).

Truth. I'm living with 4 guys in a place with one bathroom right now. Cannot wait to be out of there!Gemini wrote:If 4 people live in one place, you better hope for 2 bathrooms.Lolek wrote:I want to do that, but obviously with roommates (who are also going to Fordham).

you get a better bang for your buck the more bedrooms you have. I'm doing 3 bedroom (may change to 2) and hoping for a place $3000 or lessLolek wrote:I want to do that, but obviously with roommates (who are also going to Fordham).

Re: Fordham 2011
A legit 3 bedroom for that price might be tricky (though I have friends in 3bdrms that are $3300). A 2conv3 will be easier to find at that price. (I think you already know that, but in case anyone else is curious).Gotti wrote:you get a better bang for your buck the more bedrooms you have. FYI- depending on the building and their leniency it may not be possible to convert an apt by putting up fake drywall. There was an incident with a fire which made the dry walls illegal. There is spotty enforcement of this- it is just something to be aware of.

Also in off the waitlist this Thursday. It was hard to turn down $$ from WUSTL and ND, but I can't imagine myself practicing in any other state. Anyone else plan on commuting from Westchester?

Hey all,
I am an evening student who just wrapped up 1L last month. I wanted to check in and see if any of you had questions with regard to being an evening student or working through law school. Somebody was fielding similar questions last year and it was really valuable to me, so I'd like to pay it forward.

Congrats to everyone who's getting in off the waitlist! Was everyone generally notified via email?
I'm still waiting on an update on my status on the waitlist as an evening student...my online status checker was last updated on 5/3. I wrote the Director of Admissions last week to follow up but got an auto reply, seems like she's out of the office until today. Did anyone use any other follow up mechanisms?

How does one do study abroad? I'm really interested in the Ireland program (since I've heard it's amazing). So I'm just wondering if whoever signs up for it can go or is it more selective? Thanks!

Re: Fordham 2011
I am not studying abroad, though most of my friends are, and indeed it is amazing - I wake up with envy every morning to wild facebook updates and e-mails. As far as I know, the program is not at all selective. I don't know of anybody who was denied entry, nor have I heard of anyone who was denied placement in an externship, regardless of grades.Gemini wrote:I'll bite.Fordham2014Evening wrote:Hey all,

The program is popular among evening students because it enables them to take 4-6 easy credits (everyone gets an A- or an A), plus a credit-bearing externship if they want to stay after coursework ends. This helps the evening students who desire to transfer to the day program make up the missed credits from having a lighter courseload during 1L. If you can swing it, you should definitely go.

Is anyone going to the Admitted Student Event and Barbecue tomorrow? (And do you think this is going to be a casual-dress event? Business casual?)

Are you planning to stay in your current field, or are you shooting for a law firm job when you graduate? If you want to practice law, how does on campus interviews work for PT students at Fordham? Are you planning to get legal experience before you graduate (and if yes, how)?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
