Re: Official "Who Did You Hear From Today?" 2009-2010 Cycle
I got a nice letter from Baylor yesterday, admitting me to the Spring 2011 class. Annoying for two reasons:
1. I applied for Fall 2010
2. I withdrew my application weeks ago.

Not only is it good manners, but it is the ethical thing to do. Although you may no longer be interested in attending a school, for many people it is their top choice and they are sitting on the waiting list praying a spot opens up. Once you know you will not be attending a school you should promptly withdraw.sibley wrote:it's good manors to withdraw, but if you don't do it after a certain amount of time they do it for you (at least one school did for me)hiromoto45 wrote:Do you have to formally withdraw from schools or if you dont put down a deposit, do they know you are not attending?

Some schools I have a form to fill out but others I do not...so do I call to withdraw or write a letter?traehekat wrote:Not only is it good manners, but it is the ethical thing to do. WL at UVA. How ridic is it that there are 8000 applicants for 60% of seats (out of state) and 650 applicants for 40% of seats?

Letter from USC, telling me it's a no-go on the Rothman scholarship. I assume this means that finalists will be getting notified sometime soon.

In at Syracuse. No word on money because I apparently neglected to send them a DNA sample and a photocopy of the foot imprint they made when I was born.

I know some people with sub-par numbers who got huge scholarships from syracuse last year - full tuition and maybe even some col 5k or so...LessThanLiz wrote:In at Syracuse. Yeah, I'll send them the extra info tonight (didn't realize that even independents needed their parents info on the FAFSA) so it should be kosher.

You don't need it for FAFSA, just for some schools on NeedAccess.LessThanLiz wrote:Yeah, I'll send them the extra info tonight (didn't realize that even independents needed their parents info on the FAFSA) so it should be kosher.

No, some schools request you submit your parents' information on the FAFSA if you're under a certain age (27-30ish). The FAFSA itself may not require it, but those schools do.Holly Golightly wrote:You don't need it for FAFSA, just for some schools on NeedAccess.LessThanLiz wrote:Yeah, I'll send them the extra info tonight (didn't realize that even independents needed their parents info on the FAFSA) so it should be kosher.

First of all, are there any stipulations to keeping the full tuition?kevod10386 wrote:thinking about taking the money at Miss., any advice?
MS College does pretty good in the Jackson, MS area only. For the rest of the state, Ole Miss dominates. I really wouldn't recommend going to MS College unless you love the Jackson area, and even then, I'd advise going elsewhere; it is more about your connections in Mississippi than grades.

would you keep partial if you dropped, with the opportunity to have the full amount reinstated if your gpa raises?kevod10386 wrote:yea i would have to stay in the top 20% (approx. top 40) of my class to keep the scholarship
