Re: TLS c/o 2018 Applicants
Just to add to this -
For Harvard, the call came a day before SC update. For Berkeley, I got the phone call before I noticed the SC change, but not sure when exactly it changed (definitely on or after the date of the phone call, though). For Georgetown, SC doesn't change, you find out via snail mail (or apparently if you can sign into the Admitted Students Website, I think).
So yes, some schools will admit you before updating the SC, or without ever updating the SC.
Good luck!
Thanks for this!

If you switch jobs after sending in applications but before a decision do you have to send in an addendum? I'm looking at a couple of seasonal jobs that wouldn't be a promotion or anything to brag about, but something fun and fulfilling to ride through moving into law school.

I think they even use only your best three years in calculating GPA, right? So for those who have bad first years, or* outlier years - they don't hold that against you which is pretty neat.smccgrey wrote:On the flip side, Law Admissions in Canada is slightly more holistic.

This is like 95% opinion but whatever:nickhalden wrote:If you switch jobs after sending in applications but before a decision do you have to send in an addendum? I'd send an addendum; they do ask you to let them know if anything in your employment/personal circumstances change, and you don't want to be caught in the misunderstanding in an interview or anything. If it's really hard to spin the seasonal work as meaningful I'd wait longer in sending the addendum--like if you leave your job in early February list it as having lasted through Feb. and send the addendum at the end of the month or in March. Softs definitely only matter at the borders though so ymmv

Fwiw, I would agree with bagel. I think erring on the side of caution and letting them know would be the correct course of action.

Seeking some TLS wisdom--
I'm shooting for UCLA for as close to a full ride as possible (already admitted, 169/3.6x), unless by some miracle of the gods NYU lets me in, which I'd probably take sticker...
Any suggestions for which peer schools I should apply to in order to best set myself up for scholarship negotiations?

Got it. +Vandy, Emory, UofWash, plus most of the lower T14. Guess what I'm really asking is do I need to apply to UT Austin, GW, and USC.YeezusPiece wrote:WUSTLDipper wrote:Seeking some TLS wisdom--

UT Austin is strong for scholly negotiations IMO, GW/USC not so much. UT/UCLA/Vandy are "peers", the rest are TTT (I'm probably going to one of those TTT).

That's as peer-y as you can get.

USC is UCLA's little brother, they're not classmates.Dirigo wrote:How the f is USC not UCLA's peer?PeanutsNJam wrote:UT Austin is strong for scholly negotiations IMO, GW/USC not so much. UT/UCLA/Vandy are "peers", the rest are TTT (I'm probably going to one of those TTT).

Make whatever cute metaphor you want, but they are peer schools.PeanutsNJam wrote:USC is UCLA's little brother, they're not classmates.Dirigo wrote:How the f is USC not UCLA's peer?PeanutsNJam wrote:UT Austin is strong for scholly negotiations IMO, GW/USC not so much. Is NYU Columbia's little brother as well?

I dunno about that- seems like there are probably a good number of applicants for whom those two are their top two choices.PeanutsNJam wrote:USC is UCLA's little brother, they're not classmates.Dirigo wrote:How the f is USC not UCLA's peer?PeanutsNJam wrote:UT Austin is strong for scholly negotiations IMO, GW/USC not so much. More like Chi -> NU imo. UCLA places a fair bit better than USC.

Re: TLS c/o 2018 Applicants
UCLA's employment score is inflated because a whopping 9.3% are school-funded positions.
Subtracting school funded:
USC 59.7% Employment
UCLA 66.3% "
UTexas 74% "
Vandy 77.6% "
http://www.lstscorereports.com/compare/ ... rbilt/usc/
So you're willing to make the 11.3% jump to call UCLA and Vandy peers, but not the 6.6% jump to call USC and UCLA peers? Hmmm...
Dipper, I don't know why you specifically want to attend UCLA, but it would be foolish not to send USC an app as well. Solicit a fee waiver if you don't already have one. Good luck.
