Re: Georgetown c/o 2017 Applicants Thread (2013-2014)
Scanning through the last handful of pages and it seems median-ish GPA but above 75th LSAT people are getting PWL-ed. I can't imagine your numbers earned that response - the general mood seems that GULC has been using interviews as a YP mechanism. I imagine a genuine LOCI would get this crowd off the PWL in a matter of minutes. Just a guess.

Sorry for the WLs, best of luck to you! You're all insanely qualified candidates and I'd wager that you'll have great cycles yet.
How many of you had interviews? I can't figure out why I was asked to interview... I'm not in YP territory at all. 167, 3.75. I'm wondering if they're figuring out whether or not to WL me? Anyone with my numbers had the same experience?

Not feeling so bad after seeing some of these PW numbers. I was starting to think something was seriously wrong with my app.

Don't worry - you've just had some bad luck, and it seems like you were part of a substantial YP wave (as was I).Lightworks wrote:Not feeling so bad after seeing some of these PW numbers. I was starting to think something was seriously wrong with my app.

So they have a preferred and a regular waitlist? Is there a difference in how soon u will hear back if waitlisted?

Last year, there were 3 kinds of waitlist e-mails. Waitlist, Priority Waitlist, and a special group with the priority waitlist, or something like that.Black_Swan wrote:So they have a preferred and a regular waitlist? Is there a difference in how soon u will hear back if waitlisted?

Just got an email about alumni interview. 163/3.8x. Was expecting a ding...not sure how I am even being considered. Had a professor who went to GULC write me a recommendation, so I'm guessing that helped. Hopefully the interview goes well!

Once you submit your preferences for an interview, how long does it generally take before you hear from an alumnus/alumna

Maybe but FYI this was in February, not to be a downer....dehesse wrote:Oh noooooooopolitics89 wrote:Mine took 2 weeks.jk148706 wrote:Once you submit your preferences for an interview, how long does it generally take before you hear from an alumnus/alumnaI can't wait that long! Found out this week about my interview. Hopefully since we're later in the cycle we'll hear sooner?

I don't remember filling out anything about an interview. Where on the app was the interview part? Did I goof up and decline it accidentally?
I got put on the PWL yesterday, and I have numbers well within what they admit -- right around median LSAT and above 75% GPA.

There isn't a part about an interview. Georgetown just invites you to do if they feel like it. Sorry to hear about the waitlist, good luck!SkepticalAboutLaw wrote:I don't remember filling out anything about an interview. Where on the app was the interview part? Good to know, thanks. I'm going to write a good LOCI and then wash my hands of it. Worrying about it now is not going to get me off the waitlist.Bajam wrote:There isn't a part about an interview. Did any PTers get accepted/dinged/WLed in the Friday rush?
Reading through the thread I haven't seen one PTer mention any real action

Yup, preferred waitlist part -timer here. 166, 3.37 -- nontraditional with good softs. Mind sharing your numbers and current application status?Kuledj wrote:Did any PTers get accepted/dinged/WLed in the Friday rush?

Not sure if its a good thing I didn't hear or a bad thingQuestion Everything wrote:Yup, preferred waitlist part -timer here. 166, 3.37 -- nontraditional with good softs. Accepted via mail!
Stats:
LSAT: 169
GPA: 3.98
Complete 2/21/14
My application updated to complete again on 2/27, which was the date on the letter, so I guess the status-checker doesn't tell you if you're under review or not? (You all probably know this already.) But I applied to both part-time and full-time, and looking at the application checker, it states "Full-Time"--so for people who applied to both divisions, this might be something to keep in mind.
My roommate got the letter for me, and the exchange went like this:
Roommate: You got a letter from Georgetown.
me: Oh. Not a package?
Roommate: No, sorry. I guess we all know what a small letter means.
Which, thankfully, wasn't the case. So for those who seem to not be getting updates, it might be something to do with the status-checker? I don't know. Good luck to everyone still waiting! Let me know if you need any more information.
Edit: I haven't received an email or any updates to the status-checker. There was a personal note on my letter of admissions, though, so that might be why.
Edit 2: I did not have an interview. As of now, I still can't log in to the admitted students' website.
