thanks for thatTheopliske8711 wrote:I didn't send any employer stuff at all. I don't think that will really effect you, honestly. Maybe save it for a waitlist if necessary.but seeing as Columbia makes it a point to ask for a supervisor LoR if you are working full-time, I can't help but ask: is the consensus that I probably should send it along now if I have it on hand? Or would that just pointlessly hold up my application? thanks everyone... now back to closely following these post-mark dates!

Sorry if folks already asked similar questions, but here goes. I didn't get any mail from CLS last week so I'm guessing I missed the first wave (or maybe I'm overreacting and the packet will come this week
). If I'm lucky enough to get an accept later this month, just wondering if decisions trickle out each week or if there will more big waves incoming.

Someone mentioned that last year's first wave of decisions continued through the following Tuesday. I'm trying to stay optimistic...pokemonsters wrote:Sorry if folks already asked similar questions, but here goes. There were some 1/30 postmarks received, so for all y'all fretters...31st was Friday, 1st was Saturday Sunday off...if you're in the 3 or 4 day window, (mine took 3) you still have a shot of getting it today!

My acceptance letter (received on Sat.) was postmarked 1/30. It's totally possible for people in the first wave to get their letters today and tomorrow, unless I am literally the only one who had that late a postmark date.SplitMyPants wrote:Someone mentioned that last year's first wave of decisions continued through the following Tuesday. Historically it looks like there will be a great deal of WLs before Valentine's Day. Can most complete in 2013 expect a decision one way or another in this first wave of WLs and rejects? Or does CLS do uninformed helds?pokemonsters wrote:Sorry if folks already asked similar questions, but here goes. Trying to figure out if I missed the cut-off for the big wave by figuring out the latest complete date for those who have gotten acceptances. The spreadsheet isn't being much help. From perusing this thread, it looks like 1/9 is the latest complete date for an acceptance that we've seen?

From DOWNLOADING the spreadsheet and sorting THAT, it looks like the last complete on there to get accepted was 1/6. There are also 6 acceptances who don't have complete dates listed.samoby wrote:Trying to figure out if I missed the cut-off for the big wave by figuring out the latest complete date for those who have gotten acceptances. (Note: caps are not directed at you, but at anyone who might be tempted to sort the online version of the spreadsheet.)

Tekrul (sp?) from last cycle was deferred to rd from Ed. Then held. Then wait listed before getting in if I remember correctly. I wouldn't be surprised if a few of us who applied in 2013 get dragged along like this with no definitive answeryossarian71 wrote:Historically it looks like there will be a great deal of WLs before Valentine's Day. Edit. Helds are informed by email. For me it was in April after applying in early January

Re: Columbia c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
So over the weekend, I came across this great Youtube channel that has student interviews at each top law school, and it has sort of made me fall out of love with Columbia.
First off, the Columbia students just did not win me over as compared to, really, any of the other Top 10 schools that I watched; really seemed to confirm the reports I'd been hearing of CLS being a cold school, uber competitive, and entitled. In addition, they seem deeply unhappy...: http://youtu.be/B7DvvxOtOOY
Then, there was a remark in the Penn vid from a girl who'd been at Columbia for undergrad but decided not to return for law school because her friend who was at CLS was really miserable and hadn't made any friends, and other CLS students she talked to just could not wait to get out of there.
Just wanted to share this with y'all, perhaps it will help grant some perspective amid the craziness of this first wave.

Based on my own anecdotal experience, I would agree with this. The highly competitive, non collegial atmosphere is one reason why I chose to Ed at nyu this cycle. Despite being a Columbia alumn.waferthinmint wrote:So over the weekend, I came across this great Youtube channel that has student interviews at each top law school, and it has sort of made me fall out of love with Columbia.

Super snowy today. My class got canceled. I don't think they are delivering mail. I'm a borderline admit/wl (likely wl) so this is killing me. Just let me know I didn't get it, CLS :/
