Has anyone sent a competing merit scholarship letter to Penn (and had success with garnering merit aid from them) yet? If so, did you write an accompanying essay of sorts, or just a really brief email, sent to the address listed on their site?

Additionally, does anyone know whether Penn expects you to send in just one merit offer? Or should you attach multiple offers you have received? The language and tenses they use on that page seem vague to me. Thanks.

I find it hard to believe they are giving anything more than a handful, if that, of acceptances from the WL already.

I'm curious as to what the purpose of being "held" is at this point. If people are getting in off the waitlist already, I don't see the point of being held anymore since it seems like WL is pretty much the same thing as of now (i thought WL meant acceptances came after all the apps are reviewed vs. for held it doesn't matter... but i guess not? ). I'm not bitter or saying I'm entitled to a decision or anything .. im genuinely curious. Can somebody clear this up for me?

Been waiting since Oct so a decision soon would be great. But if more waiting means an acceptance, Penn can take its sweet time

Not sure on the particulars. I am pretty sure his numbers were competitive but nothing crazy. He applied later in the cycle, has been sitting on the WL for a while until today. Super stoked he got in.

This was me. To clarify, I was not on the waitlist. I was UR1 2/7 and UR2 2/22. I received the call yesterday and I am beyond excited! 169, 3.7 if that helps.

Sorry didn't mean it like that at all honestly, just in a similar numbers boat and didn't think I had a shot whatsoever so I'm happy to see a glimmer of hope is all. His numbers obviously make him an extremely strong candidate and I can imagine him having an amazing package when it comes to softs and that what I mean by "did they love you," as in he wowed them with the whole package. On the other hand, URMs do gain admission easier than other candidates so I was just trying to see how similar of a candidate we actually were. I truly meant no disrespect by my comment and apologize to any1 who was offended by it.
