Sorry about all the holds and reserves today, guys!! It sucks, but I am sure you all have a bunch of wonderful options at your disposal. And who knows, maybe CLS will have to go to the reserve list more this year than it has in previous years. Here's hoping anyway.

Agreed...comments like that kinda peeve me...even if just 10 get in off the reserve list, its still a chance and if you want it, go for it! Though, comments like this probably also deter others from remaining on the reserve list, so i guess it's a wash...georgeconstanza wrote:If I may ask, if that's the case, why not just reject instead of reserve? There has to be a distinction of some kind. Unless their process is just completely illogical, which I suppose wouldn't be terribly surprising.pupperoni wrote:for cls, reserve means you have just been rejected. sorry folks.

I'm completely ignorant of their process. Does CLS have a "WL" decision as well?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think anyone's reported any holds yet today (and maybe not yet this cycle)---just reserves (which is basically a WL).amc987 wrote:Sorry about all the holds and reserves today, guys!! yeah, CLS is one of the schools that cares a bit about 25/75 percentiles, and if they're willing to take a minor hit, slightly below 3.55, they might think my gpa maintains the quartile while keeping the LSAT 75th high. Either that or they haven't finished reserving/I have a ding letter on the way.snehpets wrote:makes sense. this could be a really good sign for you then!JamMasterJ wrote:my gpa's a little higher than listed.snehpets wrote:
Weird that you heard and Jam is still waiting when you have identical GPAs and similar LSATs. He's got the weirdest cycle.

On LSN last year WL's didn't go out again til the 16th, and one of them was a November submit so I don't think we're out of the woods yet. I'm hoping for the same thing as you though.JamMasterJ wrote:yeah, CLS is one of the schools that cares a bit about 25/75 percentiles, and if they're willing to take a minor hit, slightly below 3.55, they might think my gpa maintains the quartile while keeping the LSAT 75th high. Yes, but it's still the WL at CLS.georgeconstanza wrote:The letter directly contradicts this.Mr. Somebody wrote:FeraFera wrote:I'm completely ignorant of their process. Does CLS have a "WL" decision as well?

Oh ok, my bad. I thought someone mentioned being held a couple of pages ago. My sentiment re: reserves is unchanged.countercouper wrote:Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think anyone's reported any holds yet today (and maybe not yet this cycle)---just reserves (which is basically a WL).amc987 wrote:Sorry about all the holds and reserves today, guys!! To recap, I've heard both, "reserve means rejection" and "reserve=WL" within like two pages on this thread. Can't be both.thelong wrote:Yes, but it's still the WL at CLS.georgeconstanza wrote:The letter directly contradicts this.Mr. Somebody wrote:FeraFera wrote:I'm completely ignorant of their process. I think you're misunderstanding. Chances are so slim for getting off the WL/Reserve list that it might as well be a rejection.georgeconstanza wrote: To recap, I've heard both, "reserve means rejection" and "reserve=WL" within like two pages on this thread. Can't be both.

It's technically WL, but effectively rejection (since Columbia doesn't tend to pull from said WL).georgeconstanza wrote:To recap, I've heard both, "reserve means rejection" and "reserve=WL" within like two pages on this thread. Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
If the letter says that reserve=/WL, it does not mean to suggest that there is a separate pool of applicants put on a WL; instead, it means to suggest that -- in contrast to a standard WL -- they only dip into the reserve pool in an emergency.georgeconstanza wrote:The letter directly contradicts this.Mr. Somebody wrote:FeraFera wrote:I'm completely ignorant of their process. You could consider it a very complimentary ding.poe wrote:It's technically WL, but effectively rejection (since Columbia doesn't tend to pull from said WL).georgeconstanza wrote: To recap, I've heard both, "reserve means rejection" and "reserve=WL" within like two pages on this thread. Just checked the mailbox... empty.
I'm starting to actually feel a sense of relief at finding it empty, now that it seems like it's mainly rejections in the mail. When was the last time anyone received a VCE?

Also, has anyone actually been held (as opposed to reserved) this cycle yet?

Cruising LSN, I noticed a special Valentines day surprise for applicants last year!
Next week could be freaking amazing.

Well, I turned in my reserve form. I guess I'll ride it until the end of my cycle. I'm having a hard time considering waiting for the chance at admission until May. Oh well.
What's worse, I don't even have any booze to help the matter!
