Good to know. Is there any perceived or real drawback to this?
I think Flips has got it-- and will be a personal decision. Because I was a nontrad and a veteran, I thought I might be disadvantaged. In the end, I just checked yes.
Which did you think would disadvantage you? Being a veteran or being nontraditional? Seems Berkeley's more holistic admission process would be great for you.

It's my understanding that student opinions are the most important in the process and that the professors provide oversight.

I have similar numbers to you Rotor; I'm also a veteran, but not 20 years. I got referred to CR-- hopefully I end up with the same result.

Navy vet (4 years). 3.4/165 in CR1. Yea, this is a real reach for me. Good luck!

I was thinking students might be more likely to conflate any anti war sentiments they might have with my service. Berk's holistic review most certainly did help me considering my numbers, but it was Dean Tom's Admin Review for me.

Edit to add: very happy to report the reality is that my concerns would have been unfounded.

Even if I've started volunteering with legal intake at my state's ACLU office?

I'm pretty damn liberal and anti-war, but that doesn't keep me from respecting and appreciating the individuals who make up the military. Opposing war for political reasons isn't mutually exclusive with respecting service-people and their efforts. I'm also a 0L, so that doesn't really help you in this case. Best of luck, though.

It is my understanding that the two parts of your application that make a gross majority of the difference in the decisions of the students on the committee are your personal statement and your letters of rec. These may also be balanced against your GPA/LSAT if they are really low. If those two parts of your application are strong, it won't make a difference. If they're not, it also won't make a difference.

Yeah coming from the guy that batting 1000 at 15/15. Give up some stats so we can all feel worse about ourselves than we already do.

No, I am just tired of waiting. Tired of status checking, tired of email refreshing, tired of sweating. Just call me or ding me. Its to easy. No need to crush us all at once. Send the email and toss the file. I mean with no CR2, its either a yes or a no so why all the dramatics with waiting to do this ish.

No offense, but I think it would take even longer for you to get your decision if Dean Tom meets the business end of a bus. Therefore, might want to rethink that sentiment.

Well i was not hoping for a clean front end impact. I was thinking more a good clip and then maybe under both tires.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
