I'm also very curious to find out how you know for sure you aren't getting merit aid. Did you call up and ask, or something?hellomoto wrote:Is there anybody here considering BC at sticker? If so, how are you leaning?
I found out recently that I would not be getting any merit aid...I really like the school a lot, but without any help, it makes the choice much more difficult.

I'm going to send my deposit today I think. ASD solidified BC as my #1. Call me crazy but I think I'd take BC even if I get off some of the T14 waitlists im on.

If our app went complete in late Feb, does this mean we may not hear until May? The website says we'll hear back 8-12 weeks after our app is complete. I didn't think this would actually be the case, but I'm beginning to worry that it's true.

Yup- I'll be paying sticker at BC over sticker at Georgetown. Before there is a collective "You're giving up a T14? Are you brain damaged?!" I'm from Boston, want to practice in Boston, have BigLaw connections in Boston, and COL is cheaper here for me. Plus BC just fits my personality better (more laid back, friendly, etc.) I think it will be a great place for me to spend the next 3 yearshellomoto wrote:Is there anybody here considering BC at sticker? Re: BC Law 2010
katerina - this is almost the same decision i am trying to make. decent financial aid at bc but no merit aid vs. sticker at gulc. i pretty much waver back and forth a few times a day between staying in cambridge where i'm very happy and going to a school i know i'll enjoy, and going for the t14 "glory". i'm glad you've made a decision you're happy with...i think mine is going to come down to the wire!Katerina wrote:Yup- I'll be paying sticker at BC over sticker at Georgetown. For those who have gotten aid, do you think it has been based off your stats (gpa/lsat) or your softs (leadership, work, etc). I'm going to be applying next fall with about a 3.75/173, and would love to go to BC if I can get a decent amount of money (love Boston, want to work there, have all my friends and family there, etc), but my softs aren't great, which I'm afraid will hurt me when they give out aid. Any thoughts?

Re: BC Law 2010
I've all but decided on BC at this point. I have a heavily discounted 3 years at UConn on the table as well, but I'd be making a ton of sacrifices to go there over BC just to save short-term money, and I don't think it's a smart idea. I also have a waitlist from Chicago and a lack of response from NYU, but those are so inexplicably out of my league.
So I'm just being selfish at this point and wanting some more aid, but I definitely see myself having an awesome 3 years at BC.
@RKP: I did a 75/25 GPA/LSAT split for BC, with good softs, URM, and definite financial need. So far, I have a small grant and a ton of loans.

Re: BC Law 2010
Hey all. First time posting in this thread. Just believe I found out I've been admitted to BC Law and spent the day there today touring and observing a class. That places facilities are fantastic and I had a great convo with the prof of the class after. This sure complicates things for me. I want to be in NY/NJ down the road with SO preference for the area but I have free housing in the Boston area. Haven't heard anything about $ yet but the choice will be tough for BC vs the NY schools. Good luck to all those waiting AND deciding.

I hadn't received mine either so I called the financial aid office and they sent it to me in an email. It only took a few minutes--you could try that

Does anyone know how easy it is to renew the mixed merit/need based grants? I got a really generous offer (yay!), but I'm afraid I'll only get a really small grant (or nothing) next year because I'd need to reapply. Thanks!

hi all! i've been lurking around the forum for a while, but this is my first post. it looks like i'll probably be attending BC in the fall! hearing that others are also in the "probably paying sticker" group makes me feel better. i'm sort of nervous about the prospect, but i guess i'm not alone...

There is no way you are not going to get into BC with those. You might even stand a chance at this other place across the river.RPK34 wrote:For those who have gotten aid, do you think it has been based off your stats (gpa/lsat) or your softs (leadership, work, etc).
