I'm sorry. When did you become complete.ltbenn wrote:Ding by email.

I imagine this may differ substantially by person depending on your application strength and general comfort with interviews, but I would recommend interviewing. Even though Duke's scholarship system is a pain unless you were able to snag one of the earliest interview slots, Dean Hoye is a really great person to talk with. I considered forgoing the interview but am really glad that I did not; my scholarship offer was substantially greater than I expected it would be after interviewing at such a late date. I think my interview going well had something to do with this.percyt0 wrote:Does anyone know what impact the optional scholarship interview has on the money Duke offers? If I decline, is it a huge detriment? I work full time—relatively long hours—and I'm on the west coast, so finding a time to do it will be a challenge. I can make it work if it's crucial to getting money, but if it's not a big deal, I'd prefer to just decline the invitation. Any thoughts?
Don't understand why every assumes it has to be waitlist or denial- that makes no sense some people have to get in, just seems like a ton of negativity on an already stressful situationconztance wrote:I'm sorry. When did you become complete.ltbenn wrote:Ding by email.

Still waiting over here for the inevitable waitlist. It's cool, Duke, it's cool. I don't mind waiting for 3+ months.

I agree with both of you, on the bolded parts. KL, especially for Duke, which has both a small class and an early decision timeframe with the PT applications, potentially allows for fewer admits late in the cycle. Of course, there's no need to be negative until you get a decision, but the concerns are certainly reasonable. As for you, conz, I was WL at NU and accepted to Duke. Numbers are numbers, but you can be a better fit for one school over another, making it less predictable than just "peer schools act identically". You also can't predict safety schools unless you write convincing essays because of potential YP or other circumstances. Or perhaps your PS came off as super entitled and it bothered the school.conztance wrote:By my reckoning, if you are waitlisted at Northwestern, you'll be waitlisted at Duke. If we were talking about Notre Dame I'd be pretty darned certain I'll get an offer - facts and numbers are facts and numbers.KL10 wrote:

I'm not trying to be negative, but it is super late in the cycle and some seat deposits are due in two weeks so obviously gahh.
If they have held my app for this long, I would have to think they are between two of the three possibilities. I can only hope...16to19 wrote:Ditto on rank not being everything. In at Michigan, WL at Georgetown.
