Does CLS "negotiate" with NYU scholarship offers at all? [I know it would be cloaked as "need based" aid] Anyone tried/going to try this?

The general consensus seems to be that C is pretty stingy but definitely worth a shot. Worst they can do is say no. Others with more knowledge should chime in.jbagelboy wrote:Does CLS "negotiate" with NYU scholarship offers at all? [I know it would be cloaked as "need based" aid] Anyone tried/going to try this?

Having been awarded a Vanderbilt scholarship at NYU ($150,000) and a Butler scholarship at Columbia ($87,000), has anyone tried to go back to CLS Admissions and try to negotiate a Hamilton or other increased scholarship? Would enjoy knowing if that has been done before and the results, if any?

Was just held, no surprise. In fact, very much expected.

Although his situation wasn't exactly the same as yours, Pacifica tried to negotiate and they seemed to say that their initial merit offer is final but you can be considered for need based aid.
ETA: reading his post again, it doesn't seem like a bad idea to notify them of your NYU schollie:
"...We are happy to consider any relevant information as we formulate a financial aid package for you, including any scholarship offers you may have received from other institutions. You can send any supplemental information you'd like to share, as well as .pdf copies of the referenced scholarship award letters, to me or directly to the Financial Aid Office so that they are included in your financial aid file for consideration."

Just held! When I saw the email and while I was waiting for the file to download and open, I was repeating: "NO NO NO NO NO!!!" thinking that they just rejected me. But there is still hope!!! I can't believe how happy I am with this lack of decision!

Held. Submitted early October. Does anyone have a rough idea of how many people get held and how many get accepted?

Sorry to hear about the holds (or congratulations, depending on your perspective), no idea what they mean. Are these via email? Any January submitters among you?

Anyone willing to share stats to get an idea about the hold list? I was 172/3.5 with strong softs.

Also curious about what this means. I haven't survived a ding round, right?

Held basically means they need more time to make a decision about your application. You can look at it this way: you aren't an auto-admit, but you aren't an auto-ding either and they need more time to figure out which pile to put you in.pedestrian wrote:Held via email, early December applicant.

Held via email. 171/3.6. complete late Nov.
Email says we can send an updated transcript, but for those like me who are out of UG, would this be an appropriate time to send an LOCI?

178, 3.0X, strong softs. Looks like a lot of splitters one direction or the other. Any 3.9X want to pair with me?

Unless the Reserve emails are slightly staggered, I somehow again avoided getting one.
Based on LSN, I was an auto-WL but now I'm fearing that soon I'll check my mailbox and discover a rejection letter.

Well I was never an auto-admit with my <3.3 GPA, so I suppose "not an auto-ding" is about the best I could have possibly hoped for. Cheers everyone!bfigsan wrote:Held basically means they need more time to make a decision about your application.
