I won't be much help here, but with that NU offer, I can't see why you would waste time on a retake. just my opinion.untar614 wrote:Waitlisted. Damn, maybe I shouldn't have interviewed, haha.
Ok, serious question. Is there any hope of decent $$ off the waitlist, if it is accompanied by an improved June LSAT? Right now, I'm sitting on a 150k scholly from Northwestern, but I'd signed up for the June LSAT to retake before being given that. I'd go to Chicago if they could give me scholarship money in the same ballpark as Northwestern, but I'm not going to take out an extra 100k for it. I've tried skimming the thread, but I've only seen 60k scholarships. Has there been anything higher than that outside of Rubies? I'm trying to decide if it's worth it for me to write this letter and prepare to take the June LSAT, or if I should just stick with my still-very-nice NW scholarship, and maybe get started on patent bar prep. For reference, 3.78/172, but I didn't prep much, so I think with some good preparation and a good day I could get upper 170's.
Thanks everyone.

Eh. I don't think I'd take Chicago sticker over NU with $105k.Crowing wrote:What the hell.TripTrip wrote:Waitlisted.

What are they? I keep reading about Trip's awesomeness, but I haven't seen it posted, and he has too many posts to sift through.Crowing wrote:Somebody with your numbers and softs should be looking at a Ruby. Thanks Crowing. I've become slightly calloused to waitlists and holds now.

Impressive indeed. So will we most likely be classmates at NW in September, or do you have a HYS acceptance you'll be taking?TripTrip wrote:Thanks Crowing. I've become slightly calloused to waitlists and holds now.

And yeah, unless your PS and any other written thing you've sent in were at a middle school level, I share Crowing's sentiments. I'd be somewhat taken aback if I had all that on my app and was still getting waitlisted.

Nope; NU is the highest ranked school I've been accepted to! I'm trying to work an angle to turn that $105k into $150k; but I don't have much to counter with.untar614 wrote:Impressive indeed. So will we most likely be classmates at NW in September, or do you have a HYS acceptance you'll be taking?

I wish it were as simple as a poorly written PS and resume, but unfortunately we've established that that's not it. (Lots of proofreaders before submission, and even curious TLSers looking over the whole PDF after holds and waitlists.) The only things that stick out are that I was homeschooled (which carries a stigma, evidently), I didn't attend a prestigious undergrad, and I submitted in January because I retook the LSAT.
Congrats to the admits though! Enjoy UChi!

Re: Chicago c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Ah sorry :/ Yeah my bad with the hasty response - meant that they were a good sign for me at least. Looks like there are a lot of WLs today. I'm guessing there's going to have to be some serious WL movement this year though, hopefully coming sooner rather than later...Bowie_Nietzsche wrote:But apparently not uniformly "good." I just got waitlisted. On the bright side, I guess I can still say that I've yet to be flat-out dinged at any of the 18 schools to which I applied as of yet. And at least most of us WL's hadn't already been interviewed.Azariel wrote:Yay!! Looks like all the URs were a good sign; I'm in too! Congrats everyone!!

Hilarious.

which started the huge argument on page 80, you never ended up withdrawing? Not only that, you ended up getting in?jbagelboy wrote:Withdrawing my application by email after the interview invite; didn't schedule one. Hopefully this means they will extend the interview invitation to someone else and give them a greater chance at admission.
Chicago seems like a great law school but I'm pretty sure I would not take it at sticker over the options I have at this point and I'm not in the running for a Ruby. Don't mean to sound haughty at all but that's the way it is. Maybe if Chicago had given me a decision a month ago I would have kept it as a serious consideration. I'm sure others feel similarly about the delay. Hopefully they will improve their system in future years! Good luck to everyone and peace!
