Just got the reserve e-mail. Can anyone who speaks bullsh*t decipher the letter for me. Do I have any shot at an acceptance or is this equivalent to a ding? Should I send a LOCI? Any other suggestions welcome.
ETA: Is a reserve at Columbia a sign I might have a shot at the lower t-14 only other school i heard from except gtown

Acceptance off of the WL seems really slim.cuzinvinny wrote:Just got the reserve e-mail. Can anyone who speaks bullsh*t decipher the letter for me. Do I have any shot at an acceptance or is this equivalent to a ding? Should I send a LOCI? Any other suggestions welcome.

I don't know what I want to do. I don't know if it's worth trying to ride the reserve when I already have NYU and am unlikely to get much, if any, cash from either.

I'd say if you'd rather have CLS than NYU, then you should stay on.thelong wrote:Acceptance off of the WL seems really slim.cuzinvinny wrote:Just got the reserve e-mail. Weird that you heard and Jam is still waiting when you have identical GPAs and similar LSATs. He's got the weirdest cycle.thelong wrote:Acceptance off of the WL seems really slim.cuzinvinny wrote:Just got the reserve e-mail. Can anyone who speaks bullsh*t decipher the letter for me. Yeah, I fucked up on the LSAT in december, so I threw in apps just to see what happens since my prelaw advisor said it doesn't make a difference. Now I'm pretty sure I'm going to just reapply next cycle. Columbia has always been my dream, with NYU in a close second, and being on reserve just makes me realize I should wait. Well that sucks. But congrats on NYU, that seems like an amazing consolation. I think I would take this better if I had a t-6 or even a t-10 acceptance in my pocket but unfortunetly I made the mistake of being a splitterthelong wrote:Acceptance off of the WL seems really slim.cuzinvinny wrote:Just got the reserve e-mail. I just got the Reserve e-mail...Am I to read previous posts as meaning that Reserve basically means, "we'll let you know if you want, but yeah, you're not coming here," or something else?

man, i wish i'd gotten the hold email. unless there's another incoming round of holds/WLs, i'm either gonna get straight admit or straight reject. which means i'm probably gonna get the straight reject.
edit:

in that case, maybe i don't want the email. but i submitted early november, so this is pretty weird.pupperoni wrote:for cls, reserve means you have just been rejected. sorry folks.

Fearing the same. But someone with similar stats to mine just got reserved, so there is hope. I got a CLS specific LOR and I am kind of praying that it + my GPA will help them to overcome my LSAT.Mr. Somebody wrote:When did you guys submit? Any November submits? So really I am just waiting on my rejection letter.

Lol just got the reserve email, I'm honestly shocked they didn't ding me for whatever reason. I'm gonna submit the form but go back to forgetting about CLS, although Ive gotta say I appreciate them not straight dinging me I guess lol? Never really thought I would go this far so can't really complain. I doubt this is anything more than a ding though lmao.
Anyway. Back to lurking the mich thread, good luck for all the people still waiting. Submitted nov.

If I may ask, if that's the case, why not just reject instead of reserve? There has to be a distinction of some kind. Unless their process is just completely illogical, which I suppose wouldn't be terribly surprising.pupperoni wrote:for cls, reserve means you have just been rejected. sorry folks.

No reserve email. No snail mail. No fall grade request. No clue where I stand.

They don't tend to take people off of reserve. There is a distinction (you are "technically" WL'd) but it is very unlikely that you will get off the WL.georgeconstanza wrote:If I may ask, if that's the case, why not just reject instead of reserve? Just in case something catastrophic happens and their yield is way too low, they have a backup plan. Probably never a problem Columbia has to face thoughgeorgeconstanza wrote:If I may ask, if that's the case, why not just reject instead of reserve? There has to be a distinction of some kind. So then, is Reserve like second tier waitlist (and unless everyone turned them down, why would they get to the second tier)? Just trying to conceptualize it.luxxe wrote:They don't tend to take people off of reserve. in the midwest and happy that my mailbox has been empty since rejection letters are going out...
do we know when holds will start? and what they mean at columbia? i didnt receive a reserve email and i was expecting a waitlist with my numbers so im (prematurely) optimistic.
