I'm just taking the long deliberation as bad news since IU-B is a reach for me.

Yeah, reach for me too but if it's been over two months and you haven't been rejected or waitlisted yet, they're probably seriously considering your application and just haven't decided yet. Bad news: your not an auto-admit and it'll take a while to decide that they don't have room for you. Good news: your not an auto-reject and it'll take them a while to find out that they have room for you.

I agree to an extent, but I think as long as you are above median gap and above 156 you can hope for a waitlist.

If you were interviewed, I think there is a lot better of a chance (read the interviewing thread and you'll see why).

Got waitlisted letter today. Not too surprised as Bloomington is a reach school for me. Love the school. I'll keep my options to going there through the end of May. If I get nothing by then I will go somewhere else. No school not named Harvard is worth me waiting until July or August for a conformation.

This also doesn't make any sense. I think IU saw a flood of applicants this cycle that they weren't expecting.

That was definitely true last year, and this year I think I think it will be almost is true, but IU is definitely going to increase their standards.

It's funny how a school can move up 10+ spots and applicants go through the roof from people who think the school is a much better school that it was last year.

I know, right? I figured a UVA waitlist and a Vandy waitlist would mean I might get accepted someplace like UIB. Then again, Notre Dame was also a waitlist.

Send them a good LOCI if you truly want in. I think they want to be sure you're actually interested, and they know that you will likely have other competitive options with those numbers. Trust me... they're one of the schools I got into last year. And I talked to them about this. They in fact seem to not like it when people apply "just because", etc. If you let them know you want to be there... they'll let you in. If they do say yes, be sure to ask for a little bit of money too

Im pretty sure that my app doesn't have any terrible errors in it, and I have never been arrested or been expelled or anything of that nature. I have actually done pretty well in my cycle, considering that I am a splitter. I have basically gotten into the places I should get into, been waitlisted at the right places, and rejected from my reaches. I have even got some scholarships at schools where I would have been happy getting nothing.

Honestly, I would need money to go to UIB. I have been given money at Illinois and have been accepted at GWU. I want to go into Intellectual Property, so I would probably take sticker GW over 1/2 at UIB.

Or maybe they admit all of their qualified applicants who are 164+ while they are rejecting/wl the obvious r/wl applicants and then sorting through for a huge pile of accepts for 163 and less.
