I do have to say I've become a big fan of dean pless from uiuc and how he handles this - he doesn't cherry pick, grabs a stack by date, one week from ur to dr (not to mention regular visits to tls to explain this) - the respect courtesy of giving accept/ding/wl/or hold by order complete is greatly appreciated.

+1. He's obviously a wonderful guy if he puts in that level of effort and thoughtfulness for his applicants.ruleser wrote:I do have to say I've become a big fan of dean pless from uiuc and how he handles this - he doesn't cherry pick, grabs a stack by date, one week from ur to dr (not to mention regular visits to tls to explain this) - the respect courtesy of giving accept/ding/wl/or hold by order complete is greatly appreciated.

In review as of 12/15 (yesterday). Above both 75ths and received the Rothman invitation last week. I'll be withdrawing either today or tomorrow but thought the information might be useful to some.
I applied on 10/2 and was complete as of 10/14.

Good luck everybody!
(I went complete 11/30, so don't lose hope that your app will be looked at in Dec even if you went complete later on).

Fine then withdraw from harvard since you're clearly interested in t20s more than t3smanagamy wrote:Sorry. No chance.Oli wrote:<3crackberry wrote:In review as of 12/15 (yesterday). Did you mean your username to be "magnanimy?" as in magnanimous?managamy wrote:I love everyone equally. Check out my username.Oli wrote:

Hahaha, no. It's an ironic pun on "monogamy," combining the names of two beautiful girls in the "mana." I was trying to poke fun at the concept, although I don't mind people who support it.ruleser wrote:Did you mean your username to be "magnanimy?" as in magnanimous?managamy wrote:I love everyone equally. Cool, because magnanimy is a hell of word to spell, never mind say - only Gilbert and Sullivan enjoy the existence of that word...managamy wrote:Hahaha, no. In review as of today! I went complete 11/3. I hope I don't have to wait long for this one...I am seriously ready for decisions to start rolling out.
Does USC send merit scholarship info with the decision or does that come in spring?

Haha, thanks. It's my favorite Disney movie and the saloon bit is my fave scene. Really, a burlesque dance in a Disney classic?beesknees wrote:Slansky, love your tar. The Great Mouse Detective was a favorite growing up.

Re: USC 2010!
The conversations re the traffic situation in LA may have died down a bit, but I don't think traffic is THAT bad. I live in Westwood and drive to my internship in Koreatown [1 exit before the Vermont exit (the exit for USC) off of the I-10] and it usually takes me about 25 minutes to get there from Westwood and 35 minutes back, the majority of that time being taken up by time spent on local roads leading to the internship building, but USC isn't far from any of the major freeways at all. The only real nightmare is rush hour traffic from downtown and when idiots decide to rubberneck to see some guy changing his tires
Imo the 10 isn't THAT bad...the 405 is a lot worse, so I guess the LA area itself is pretty heinous in terms of traffic, but strictly considering the commute from west LA to USC, it shouldn't be a factor that turns people off...
But perhaps my thinking that the 25-35 minute drive isn't bad is proof that I've gone insane from living here for the past three years
