I've got a 3.66 (3.8 Degree) and a 159 LSAT Texas-Resident Non-URM
Do I stand a chance of getting into UH??? Your input appreciated.

I bet u have a pretty good shot. Right now looking at LSN they haven't accepted anything below a 161 but they also haven't rejected anyone with your numbers either. Your GPA is good and it looks like UH drags their feet on admissions. Looking at the trends, they have been going down by LSAT score and accepting in waves based on that score. Also looking at their last year admissions, tons of people in the upper 150's got accepted in March. I bet you will be good.

Re: In at University of Houston
I applied for the part time program at UH, and submitted my application Feb.15.
My LSAC profile has those three little asterisks next to paper submission for UH- am I to assume that the school still hasn't received a paper copy, or that they haven't requested one yet?
Should I contact the LSAC people?

I've been in review since 1/10 and went complete the middle of November.

Status just changed from "In Review" 1/08/09 to "In Review" 3/08/09. Already accepted to higher ranked schools, so didn't expect to have to wait this long.

I've got the exact same dates. I called last Tuesday and they said all results would be out for Early Decision "in a week or so." With UH, there's no telling how long "or so" could be, though, so I'm trying not to let myself get too anxious.Sparky wrote:Status just changed from "In Review" 1/08/09 to "In Review" 3/08/09. I'm really hating their admissions process.

Yea, their admissions process has been a joke. It wouldn't have been okay for us to turn in our applications late for the early admissions cycle, so I don't get how they can get back to us so late (since they said the latest they'd get back was 10 days ago).... I called too and they just said "oh, sometime in the next few weeks." Really making me rethink. If their admissions process is like this, what else is disorganized in the school?

I was seriously considering UofH (and I've been admitted), but first they took nearly two months to notify me of my application being complete (and only did so after I finally emailed them) and now they are taking an obscene amount of time to offer scholarships. I've been given the run around by three different people I've talked to about when scholarship offers should come out.

Same exact thing happened to me. I have been accepted to a t-25 school but still have UH as my number one.

Financial aid and merit awards go out together in cycles, starting the first week of April.texas08 wrote:I was seriously considering UofH (and I've been admitted), but first they took nearly two months to notify me of my application being complete (and only did so after I finally emailed them) and now they are taking an obscene amount of time to offer scholarships. How did you find this out? Are you sure?joonix wrote:Financial aid and merit awards go out together in cycles, starting the first week of April.
I talked to one admissions guy who kept telling me he had no idea, but under pressure finally said he thought maybe they would start going out at the end of April. This guy was rude and clearly just wanted me off the phone.
A lady in financial aid was much nicer and she said mid to late April.
I also e-mailed someone in admissions (I don't remember who, maybe an assistant dean? something like that anyways) and she finally got back to me after about a week and said mid to late March.
The problem with all of these (other than I guess the March answer) is that they come AFTER deposit deadlines at other, better schools who have already offered me scholarships in a timely fashion. I really wanted to stay in-state but if UofH doesnt really want me then I guess maybe I don't want them either

I asked someone that is very familiar with the law school application process and UH, and I was told there is no reason to unless you get waitlisted.rubies wrote:application is still in review.

I was told (last week) that scholarships would be sent out before April 1st. But when I talked to them in February, they had told me the beginning of March. So...right. :/

I got a reply from Kelly Polk, Asst. Director of Admissions. She said full-time offers will go out on a rolling basis (every 2-3 weeks
) until mid-MAY and July for the PT program. I guess the wait continues...

wtf?!?!? We have to make deposits for other schools in April. That's ridiculous.

Anyone else get that weird email about having to get some LSDAS reports re-ordered from LSAC because of technical difficulties with their online versions?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
