It's been about 4 weeks since I applied ED and I still haven't heard back via email or mail and I live in DC. They say a decision is sent out within 3 weeks, what gives?

When did your application go complete? The 3 weeks' time starts from that date.FakeAdamSchefter wrote:It's been about 4 weeks since I applied ED and I still haven't heard back via email or mail and I live in DC. They say a decision is sent out within 3 weeks, what gives?

According to the status checker online it listed it as complete about a week and a half ago. I find it odd that it would take a few weeks for an application to be complete, but that could just be me.

Think I have a chance with a 3.5/165?

Did anyone else's references receive an email from Dean Cornblatt thanking them for submitting the reference? Is this standard?

Just received an unsolicited fee waiver:
"The Fall 2016 entering class was comprised of students from 42 states, 14 foreign countries, and 229 colleges and universities. The median
LSAT for this class was a 167, and the median undergraduate GPA was a 3.78."

Did anyone include a "why gtown" essay in their app? I emailed admissions about this and they said I could attach one under the optional response but a why x essay obviously does not match any of the prompts for that section
Also a 250 word limit is pretty restrictive, I could barely fit anything into the statement so it feels forced and lacking in some respects

I think it depends on your numbers. If you're around median or above, then it's not absolutely necessary. I didn't write one and got in. But if you're below medians or if you really want Gtown, it wouldn't hurt to write it. Additionally, if you don't actually have a good reason why Georgetown, or are not good at bulllshitting, I think it would hurt rather than help your chances, as adcomms are pretty good at reading through bullshit "Why X" essays, or so I've heard. Hope that helps.MAPP wrote:Did anyone include a "why gtown" essay in their app? I included one because I'm above their 75ths and wanted to make sure they knew I was genuinely interested - maybe it was overkill, but. The only way I think you could fit it into the optional response section would be to make a video version, which I think someone on this forum did.Assasindowntheavenue wrote:I think it depends on your numbers. Re: Georgetown Law School c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I just got an e-mail from the admissions office. They said they did not complete the first batch ED applications until the second week of October, my application went complete on 12 October (submitted on 15 Sep), and that I would receive an answer no later than the end of the day on 2 November. This "complete" date is when the 3-week timer starts. The bit at the bottom of the status checker that says it takes 3-5 business days to review the applications to mark them "complete" is where my expectations were improperly set.

I have plenty of friends who attend Georgetown, and while none of them have described it as "cutthroat," Georgetown defiantly has its share of gunners.MAPP wrote:Can anyone confirm?RamTitan wrote:Also have heard that Georgetown is cutthroat as hell

generally, I would think that the harder it is to get biglaw at a school, the more competitive it will be.0LawSchool wrote:I have plenty of friends who attend Georgetown, and while none of them have described it as "cutthroat," Georgetown defiantly has its share of gunners.MAPP wrote:Can anyone confirm?RamTitan wrote:Also have heard that Georgetown is cutthroat as hell
