EDIT: For reference, Georgetown Law's facebook page for this year has 450 members. Last years had 603 members. So even being generous, there are still plenty of open spots left

I doubt they would say that 40-50 usually get in off the WL each year, and currently they expect to make few if any offers before the 2nd deposit deadline, if they still have 100+ seats left.

My theory, and it's only a theory, is that they say that to find the people who are really committed to Georgetown if accepted (even when they say the odds are small). That way; they don't waste handing out acceptances at this point. Also, I doubt there are 100 spots left. Conservatively, I'd say more like 40-50?Alive97 wrote:I doubt they would say that 40-50 usually get in off the WL each year, and currently they expect to make few if any offers before the 2nd deposit deadline, if they still have 100+ seats left.

Re: Georgetown Wait-List 2015-2016 (Class of 2019)
Didn't they tell people (from earlier posts) that they're making as many as 40 offers already? If that's the case, I doubt the class is actually full. Also something to note, Harvard hasn't even started pulling from the waitlist. Once that happens, activity will also increase a good bit.Anonnonnon wrote:My theory, and it's only a theory, is that they say that to find the people who are really committed to Georgetown if accepted (even when they say the odds are small). Just received an offer via email with a minor scholarship (I was on the special preferred, attended interview this weekend). I will try to negotiate, otherwise, no GULC for me.

Congrats! I was at the interview as well. You give us all hope. Though, I am just on the preferred, as opposed to special-preferred, and have never received any phone calls. And, I applied PT which probably does not bode well since GULC is the best PT program and there's less likely to be movement in that group.bobobo wrote:Just received an offer via email with a minor scholarship (I was on the special preferred, attended interview this weekend). Thank you! Hopefully, more offers are coming soon. Being invited to the interview is a good sign.osgiliath wrote:Congrats! I was at the interview as well. You give us all hope. There are certainly seats left and the class is not full. However, I'm not as optimistic, especially as a regular waitlist. I'd say maybe 5-10 considering their language?Anonnonnon wrote:My theory, and it's only a theory, is that they say that to find the people who are really committed to Georgetown if accepted (even when they say the odds are small). Congrats! Did you receive one of those emails on Monday saying the deposits are strong and to wait until June? Did anyone not get that update email on Monday? I'm on the PWL and interviewed in NYC last week, but didn't receive the email...

Did you interview with them on Sat? Or on another date?app1516 wrote:I received a feeler call yesterday telling me I was being considered for admission and asking if I was still interested. I was called twice before being offered admission. It took 6 days (and an interview over the weekend) to hear back after the second call.app1516 wrote:I received a feeler call yesterday telling me I was being considered for admission and asking if I was still interested. Has anyone had success negotiating scholarship money when accepted off the wait list? I've called twice and emailed and they are not getting back to me. Interestingly enough, I think they are trying to avoid discussing this with me.

That's rough but not too surprising as GULC has a reputation for being pretty stingy with scholarship $. On the other hand, it's also possible they really are trying to scrounge up some $ for you and are trying to figure it out before coming back to you with an answer.bobobo wrote:Has anyone had success negotiating scholarship money when accepted off the wait list? I got in off the wait list and then negotiated for a substantially larger scholarship. They didn't get back to me until they actually offered the larger amount so I wouldn't necessarily think they're avoiding you.glue me wrote:That's rough but not too surprising as GULC has a reputation for being pretty stingy with scholarship $. The e-mail did imply that they might make some admissions though.
