I've just emailed the admissions committee with my LOCI attached as a PDF and mentioned that I would send another LoR through LSAC. Their confirmation email usually acknowledges that and says something to the effect of "we look forward to receiving it." I definitely don't think you should scan it and send it personally.agent_hibachi wrote:How should we send in additional letters of recommendations? Should we scan it in and attach it to an e-mail to admissions? Should we tell the writer to send it to the waitlist e-mail? Any and all guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Waitlist Oasis c/o 2019
I have crafted what I'd like to think are 3 pretty good LOCIs to my top choice and I've been continually disappointed at the lack of any sort of response that I've gotten from any of them. All three were met with the same automated response and radio silence, while other waitlist candidates at the same school are getting in by literally not even responding to the initial waitlist email.adj8103 wrote:Received a reply to my LOCI the morning after sending it...

It's painful. I try to play it off to my friends like waitlists don't matter... but TLS knows my feels... This is rough! Good luck otter!OtterLaw wrote:I have crafted what I'd like to think are 3 pretty good LOCIs to my top choice and I've been continually disappointed at the lack of any sort of response that I've gotten from any of them. At what point am I supposed to start calling the admissions office every few weeks to ask about the waitlist? I sent in an updated resume, LOR, and LOCI last week.

Anybody have me beat? 9 waitlisted out of 14 decisions so far (waiting on Stanford). Harvard, Columbia, Chicago, UPenn, Michigan, UVA, Duke, Cornell, and Georgetown.

Haha, well I did mention that in my PS....thebrownnote wrote:Congrats! (If congrats are in order for a waitlist). Incidentally, I was talking to a friend involved with HLS admissions a few months ago, and she joked/said their class was missing someone personally affected by DADT, so maybe, just maybe...OtterLaw wrote:Well I can add Harvard to my WL queue. So far I got two WL that I care about. UT & WUSTL but these two schools are far away from where I live. Do you guys think it is worth it to visit or does a LOCI pretty much do the job

A visit certainly is the best way to show how interested you are, but if it's terribly expensive and/or not feasible just let the admissions office know that. Definitely send a LOCI and if one of them is your top choice and you know for sure you would attend if accepted, tell them. Good luck!RonnyDiniro wrote:So far I got two WL that I care about. If I tell the school I'd attend if accepted, will I receive a final decision earlier? Anyone with experience? Much appreciated!OtterLaw wrote:A visit certainly is the best way to show how interested you are, but if it's terribly expensive and/or not feasible just let the admissions office know that. I got off a wait list by couching my words in a way that implied I would attend. I didn't flat out say I would but I did receive a quick turnaround after.DAFFODILS2019 wrote:If I tell the school I'd attend if accepted, will I receive a final decision earlier? WL at Berkeley. Is it possible to be offered any aid if I do get accepted off the list? $40-50K would pretty much gaurantee my attendance.

Handful of WL. No rejections yet but I'm starting to think all those WLs are the same thing. Anyone else?

Re: Waitlist Oasis c/o 2019
Waitlist update:
Harvard (Why Harvard/LOCI combo addendum sent)
Chicago (Sent a LOCI; Why Chicago essay sent before interview in March)
Columbia (haven't sent anything; not sure I will)
Cornell (Sent a LOCI; Why Cornell essay sent after interview in February)
Georgetown (withdrawn)
University of Texas (withdrawn; I went there for undergrad; eff them for waitlisting me)
UCLA (sent a LOCI but will probably actually withdraw; their bar passage stats are worse than USC's)
Vanderbilt (withdrawn; not even sure why I applied; I declined an interview)
How's that for a mixed bag? Haha. I'm putting in my deposit for USC this week; totally fell in love with the place.
Still pending at NYU. I think they've forgotten about me. Haha.

Re: Waitlist Oasis c/o 2019
WL at Harvard. Pretty pumped considering I applied late January. Will be sending LOCI and a Why Harvard.
If I don't make it in this year I'll be reapplying next year the day apps are available. I don't currently have any offers that would make me want to give up a better shot at Harvard and I'm in no rush to start school this year.
I'm on Columbia's WL (reserve) too. Planning on withdrawing since I don't think I'd attend this year, but I don't want that to affect my app next year.
