Also WL via email. Honestly just surprised I wasn't outright rejected. I haven't decided if I'm gonna stick it out.

Denied via email yesterday. Didn't write a "why X" essay and I think that did me in.

Bummer. UCLA is sometimes hard to predict- not as hard as Berkeley, but for some reason these California schools have their secret procedures...imKMart wrote:Denied via email yesterday. Didn't write a "why X" essay and I think that did me in.
Here's hoping to a round of acceptances for you.

Darn. I saw another person (maybe on MyLSN? can't remember) with similar numbers, which are close to mine, who had an admit in a couple of weeks so I was hoping to hear quickly. Sounds like I'm in for a much longer wait than I wanted. Good luck!still wrote:went complete early december
still nothing
3.2 171
at this point i'd be happy with a wl

Went complete in October. White noise since then. Honestly not sure what to expect anymore. If they are wait listing me, I mean, it would be nice to know! Sigh, oh well. Really isn't a rush at this point I guess.spencercross wrote:Darn. from what i gather here and on mylsn, UCLA seems to surely becoming more and more splitter friendly
iirc they used to have a hard gpa floor of 3.4 but seem to be willing to go way below that as long as lsat >170
still a crapshoot anyways but something interesting to note

Some of the numbers seem lower for 2015. Not sure if that's just because of the decline in applications. It's different data from LSN, obviously. Maybe I'm missing something though! I'm new at TLS/LSN.lawschool1741 wrote:what does this provide that just looking at medians doesn't? or am I missing something?Immanueldoesntpun wrote:http://tippingthescales.com/2014/05/the ... ccepted/2/

It says "by Jeff Schmitt on May 20, 2014", so no idea if those are projections or what...Immanueldoesntpun wrote: Some of the numbers seem lower for 2015. Right, that's what made me skeptical. Also, the "ABOUT TIPPINGTHESCALES" link doesn't work. The numbers just helped me feel a little better about my (relatively low) liberal arts college GPA.lawschool1741 wrote:It says "by Jeff Schmitt on May 20, 2014", so no idea if those are projections or what...Immanueldoesntpun wrote: Some of the numbers seem lower for 2015. Random question: (sorry to post it here, but I didn't see a UCLA c/o 2018 thread yet) is anyone on here planning on going to the the diversity welcome weekend?
The info shows up on my admitted student page, and I wasn't sure if I should go because I am LGBT but not URM. I don't want to be that person that thinks LGBT is included in this diversity welcome weekend when it might not be.

I submitted my app early Jan and I am assuming it's under review. Is it worth writing a why UCLA essay and emailing them?

This is a judgement call for you. It for sure can't hurt your chances now, but do you have anything else you could update with if you end up being WL'd?SupremeLaw wrote:I submitted my app early Jan and I am assuming it's under review. Is it worth writing a why UCLA essay and emailing them?

Got my acceptance packet from UCLA today. No surprise after the phone call.
There was no scholarship information in it. No one's gotten any scholarship info from them yet, right?

I believe the event is invite-only, though I could be wrong. However, I received a couple of emails about it that said the event was geared toward underrepresented students of color.smashes wrote:Random question: (sorry to post it here, but I didn't see a UCLA c/o 2018 thread yet) is anyone on here planning on going to the the diversity welcome weekend?
