Went complete a few days ago, but I just got my complete email. Says to expect a decision between December and May - is that what the emails last year said and they just set our expectations low, or is a late November decision ruled out?

I would guess that they were speaking in general, since the vast majority of decisions occur after November.ikethegremlin wrote:Went complete a few days ago, but I just got my complete email. So what's the expectation for the earliest JS1? I'm really lookin' forward to constantly refreshing my email/spam folder in search of an invite.

First Complete (c/o 2017): Thursday, September 26LSATneurotic wrote:I would guess that they were speaking in general, since the vast majority of decisions occur after November.ikethegremlin wrote:Went complete a few days ago, but I just got my complete email. First Complete (c/o 2016): Wednesday, October 10
First JS1 Invite (c/o 2017): Tuesday, October 15 (~4 PM EST)
First JS1 Invite(c/o 2016): Wednesday, October 31 (~4 PM EST)
First JS2 (c/o 2017): Monday, November 25 (~7 PM EST)
First JS2 (c/o 2016): Tuesday, November 20 (~2:30 PM EST)
So far c/o 2018 resembles c/o 2017, so perhaps in a couple of weeks we might get some JS1s? Love Harvard for working so fast - depressing as hell to look at Columbia, Chicago and Stanford's timelines and know you're waiting till January at best to hear.
Which I always feel has to be a disadvantage for them - given that at this stage I'm still very open to any offers, and a massive scholarship would sway me from even HYS, you'd think these schools would want to be in your mind as early as possible? I know for sure that the first school to offer me admission is going to have a massive advantage because I'll be fantasizing about it the longest, doing research on apartments, etc etc. That's what it was like for undergrad anyway - I was so happy to get that first admissions packet the school got way more consideration than it would have done 2 months later in the process.

Yeah, it definitely builds good will. Hence Duke's PT program. I'm not sure that initial good will is a gamechanger when it comes time to pick a school, but I do appreciate the quick turnaround, nonetheless.ikethegremlin wrote:First Complete (c/o 2017): Thursday, September 26LSATneurotic wrote:I would guess that they were speaking in general, since the vast majority of decisions occur after November.ikethegremlin wrote:Went complete a few days ago, but I just got my complete email. It's sort of obnoxious that so many schools encourage you to apply early, then wait three months before you hear from them again. At least with Harvard the turnaround between submitting your app, earliest possible JS1 date, and receiving a decision is reasonable. Whereas Chicago accepts applications in August and won't get back to you until January...ridiculous.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
JS1 is just TLS shorthand for the Skype interview that Harvard does with applicants that it is considering (strongly considering?) offering a place to. As far as I know they do them through out the cycle, so you would never be 'too late for it.' I imagine if you just submitted you wouldn't be amongst the first to get one though.lawschoolplease1 wrote:for those of us who just submitted our applications, are we too late for js1?

My bad.

It'll depend on the volume of early applications, but you still have a shot at an early JS1: looking at the google doc from last year's applicants thread there are a few that submitted in early October and got accepted in late November. One I am looking at submitted 10/2, went complete 10/14, got a JS1 invite 10/18, had a JS1 interview 10/31, and was accepted 11/26.lawschoolplease1 wrote:for those of us who just submitted our applications, are we too late for js1?

Lower your expectations to 'sometime before Christmas' and you'll be less likely to be disappointed!lawschoolplease1 wrote:RunnerRunner wrote:It'll depend on the volume of early applications, but you still have a shot at an early JS1: looking at the google doc from last year's applicants thread there are a few that submitted in early October and got accepted in late November. This. First you wait for your LSAT score to come out, then you wait for apps to open, the for apps to be complete, etc. Never ends!lawschoolplease1 wrote:this wait game is the worst.

This isn't so bad for me. I think my longest wait will be once I know where I am going and waiting to start school because I will just be so excited.

Very interesting! I suspected that schools could see, but had no real reason to believe it.psychmusic wrote:Speaking of desperate, Spivey noted in another thread that schools can see how often we log into our status checker. If they can see, then it would be good to check regularly to show interest, but not too often (in case they actually look).
I'm an HLS student now. Anyone can feel free to contact me with questions or for advice.
