Columbia starts classes in about a month. I can't believe they actually pull ppl off the WL this late in the cycle.

I just can't believe literally zero people have been pulled off the WL at such a late point.Dr.Zer0 wrote:Columbia starts classes in about a month. I can't believe they actually pull ppl off the WL this late in the cycle.

Has this actually been confirmed, or are you just basing that off TLS and LSN? Only a fraction of applicants use these websites, and a smaller fraction of those actually bother to update with good news.tenniscourt wrote:I just can't believe literally zero people have been pulled off the WL at such a late point.

Someone a couple pages back said they called and was informed the class was still full and they didn't expect to make any acceptances until mid to late July

This was confirmed as of a few weeks ago. When I called admissions, they said their class was currently full and they did not expect to pull from reserve until mid- to late-July.stugots wrote:Has this actually been confirmed, or are you just basing that off TLS and LSN? Also - very unlikely that Columbia has admitted someone off of reserve and neither TLS nor LSN has captured anything. That would be atypical using previous cycles and other schools as benchmarks.
Tennis - I really cannot believe it either.

Dinged. First reserve, then second reserve after a delay of a few days in getting the email. Came home to a letter this afternoon.

Called. There will not be any acceptances unless someone withdraws.

When do we start speculating on how dings are being handed out? If I recall, some people were also let go between 1st and 2nd reserves, no? Spots have evidently not opened up for the reserve group, yet they are still letting people go???? If this is the case, this smells highly inefficient on Columbia's part. I'm convinced the dings mean that some elusive soul flying under the radars of TLS and LSN has actually been accepted off the reserve list.

Not necessarily. It could mean they're cutting their reserve list down because they don't anticipate a lot of people to come off of it so instead of having a ton of reserves with a lot of people they wouldn't even consider, they might be trimming down since their class is full and they wouldn't need a lot off of it anyway. But then again, trying to get inside the Columbia adcons this cycle has been fruitless

Re: Columbia Reserve C/O 2017
Right, mixed up my dates a little bit. I was 2R around June 15, received the ding letter which was dated July 12. During that second round, I received my email a few days after the majority of people here seemed to have gotten theirs.

I have a friend that got off the waitlist in June. It doesn't appear they have let many people in off the waitlist, but there has been at least one.

What was their process for notifying him/her? Did they reach out to gauge interest first?skicrazy wrote:I have a friend that got off the waitlist in June. It doesn't appear they have let many people in off the waitlist, but there has been at least one.

Placed on Reserve in March. Have received zero word from Columbia: re 2nd reserve, 3rd reserve. Have not received rejection letter. Anyone care to interpret these facts?

Placed on the reserve list in April. Received the 2nd reserve email with everyone else around June 10th. I've yet to get a 3rd reserve email. Does this mean a ding? or has anyone else not heard anything yet after being placed on second reserve?
