Checking in! applied ED about a month ago and went complete about a week later. Columbia is definitely a reach for me but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. It is by far my top choice!

Checking in. I hate this:
"Please note that decisions will not be available online; rather, all applicants will receive their decisions by mail."
This is 2013, not the Dark Ages!

Anyone else having difficulties with Columbia applications and study abroad transcripts? They're insisting that they need mine even though no one else has wanted it, including LSAC.

I remember others on this forum saying Columbia had also asked for theirs, I wouldn't be worried. FWIW, I submitted mine to LSAC before I applied anywhere, so they should've received mine with my application.alex.cm wrote:Anyone else having difficulties with Columbia applications and study abroad transcripts? Yeah it's just a massive PITA, especially since they are giving me a hard time about receiving it directly from my study abroad institution - I don't want to submit through LSAC given that all my other apps are already complete and under review.binary_theatrics wrote:I remember others on this forum saying Columbia had also asked for theirs, I wouldn't be worried. About study abroad transcripts, Stanford had an issue with mine and I had the study abroad institution email it to them. I went complete the next day.
Its been over a month and I'm still not complete at Columbia I'm assuming its the study abroad transcripts again. Do they accept updates to your application via email?

Is it too late to ED this week? It says apps are due by the 15 but it also says you have to be complete by the 15, and normally it takes some time for your app to go complete. So if I submit my ed app let's say on thursday, then would that be too late?

Yes absolutely. Any update you may have can get sent directly to them by email. They will update your file.HarvardHopeful wrote:About study abroad transcripts, Stanford had an issue with mine and I had the study abroad institution email it to them. I went complete the next day.

I created a nice Google spreadsheet to track admissions results in the GULC thread - would there be any interest in porting that here to track results?

You can try this, but I was told pretty specifically over the phone that they would not accept a study abroad transcript via email. That said, if you submit yours and they accept it by email please please let me know!! I'm putting off spending the money its going to take to get mine sent by post... lol.gbelle wrote:Yes absolutely. Any update you may have can get sent directly to them by email. Re: Columbia c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Has anyone written an explanation for interrupted education?
They ask you to attach a separate file & I'm wondering how long the explanation should be.
For all my other applications I just wrote one sentence, saying sth like "I took a semester off to volunteer at blah blah"
but since CLS is my top choice (applying ED!) I want to be more careful on this one.
Should I go on and repeat what I've written on my resume to tell them what a great experience it was,
or should I just attach a doc with one sentence written on it?

For mine, I just explained why I did it and what I did in about a short paragraph's worth of detail. 4-5 sentences at the most.dlrbfl wrote:Has anyone written an explanation for interrupted education?

Hey guys! 1L here. Hope the cycle is off to a good start for all of you! Please feel free to message me if you have any questions (or concerns) about CLS or applications generally. Getting insight from veteran TLSers was invaluable during my application/decision process, so I would welcome the opportunity to help the next TLS generation in any way I can
