UMich, did I read correctly on another thread that you are not attending next summer?

If you don't mind sharing, what was the process like for requesting deferred admission? I would think you have to present a compelling reason, but maybe it is more lax than I am imagining?

Got a voicemail today saying they had some "quick questions about my application," I can't fathom this would be anything other than a soft acceptance gauging interest right?

Apparently they have, or are getting ready to release a bunch of people from the WL. Just an FYI.

Couldn't justify paying sticker so I told them I wouldn't take a spot if offered. Never thought I'd turn down Michigan, but I just can't see it being worth ~$140k more than UT.

Since I got the call yesterday I had been contemplating and making sure that I could give an honest answer when they would ask me if I'd attend if accepted. I then got a follow-up email an hour ago essentially just asking the same question (while being clear that they weren't officially offering admission yet). I just replied to that and told them I couldn't swing it financially. I would think that if any of you get one of these calls and can commit to attend that they'll accept you honestly.

Well I just got a reply saying that I actually could receive merit aid if they offered me a spot. This could change things. FWIW he said they have 2 WL offers outstanding ATM and couldn't offer me a spot until they hear back.

They updated website at end of last week...

I just hope the offers come sooner rather than later. We are really going down to the wire now.
