Re: Georgetown Waitlist 2013
I wish to enter the runnings for WL survivor with the lowest numbers. If you think you've got the highest or lowest, PM me and I'll post median #s for the WL.

You and Zorro have above median GPAs... maybe that's why?zz888 wrote:what's interesting is that some of those who were released have higher numbers than those who kept on the WL....I wonder what they are basing this off of.

As you know, yesterday was our second deposit deadline. The response to this deadline was very strong, and, consequently, the Committee on Admissions will not be able to offer you admission to Georgetown University Law Center this fall. Your placement on the Waiting List reflected our confidence in the strength of your application. At this time, however, we have received deposits from more applicants than we have seats available in the first year class. Consequently, we are unable to extend an offer of admission to you this year.
We appreciate your interest in our program and wish you success in your future endeavors.
Lmao!!! Wow!!! I got the one asking to express my interest and reply by July 1st. Should I cite TLS and this e-mail in my response and say "I am still interested in Georgetown but I am a bit concerned with the disingenuous e-mail that was sent out to those who were released from the waitlist claiming the class is overenrolled. Mind resolving this paradox for me?"
Why not tell them that j-select says, "hello" a la http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9e3jGlHo56M

Its like asking a girl out and having her cancel on you because she is "sick" only to find out that she actually made plans with another guy. It makes the whole thing so much worse than just being honest.j-select wrote:please do and tell them that j-select "knows." he'll understand what you mean.DaRascal wrote:j-select wrote:there is also this one that went out to at least two of us... good luck to everyone still waiting.

Especially since he signed it "Andy".. as if shortening his name will soften the blow. just rude, especially since they know we're all going to see it here

He signed the "rejection" email with Andy??? That's pretty bad...

Re: Georgetown Waitlist 2013
I actually think that rejecting people from the wait list is a good thing. It allows the applicants to focus on schools where they have a shot. They can focus their LOCI's on those schools. Perhaps the letter could have been worded differently, but I'm going to defend Dean Cornblatt on this one. Plus he always signs his name Andy. I don't think it is rude at all.

Re: Georgetown Waitlist 2013
The issue isn't that he signed his name Andy, or that they're releasing people from the waitlist. It's that they're not being honest with everyone.
What they should have said was: "As you know, we've now passed our second deposit deadline. While your application was very strong, we have filled the vast majority of our class and are in the process of filling the few remaining seats with other applicants. We will not be able to offer you a seat this fall, and as such, we are releasing you from our waitlist. We wish you the best in your future endeavors and encourage you to look on the bright side: Georgetown isn't really worth the sticker price that the sorry suckers who we are going to accept off our waitlist will have to pay."
Instead they claimed the class was full, while simultaneously telling another group that it was not. Bush-league. Not a T13 school.
Though, I will admit, it's not clear that they are lying outright. He's saying they have more deposits than spots in the class. That's probably true and they're just anticipating more withdrawals from those who've made deposits than they exceed the class size by.

Re: Georgetown Waitlist 2013
regular WL here and also got the more positive interest email, surprisingly. 162/3.9. I wonder if they need relatively high GPAs for a late boost to their median.

Many WL>Admits reported on LSN are splitters so this theory may be validhopelessoptimist wrote:regular WL here and also got the more positive interest email, surprisingly. 162/3.9. I wonder if they need relatively high GPAs for a late boost to their median.
