I predict Standford and Harvard tie at #2. I predict Chicago moves up a spot. I predict Illinois moves all the way back to #47. I predict Cornell at GULC swap places in the t-14.cbarlow1016 wrote:Really???lhanvt13 wrote:Wha? According to ?wannabelawstudent wrote:Apparently they fell to 47.

I think the implication is that he somehow already knows what the rankings are. It wouldn't surprise me considering what he doeslhanvt13 wrote: Hah the prediction thread. All is good everybody pitchforks down

Yeah this isn't a random poster, and like he said later on in the thread, he'd already seen the rankings. He's being tongue-in-cheek saying "I predict"lhanvt13 wrote:Hah the prediction thread. I guess you should've be too mad anymore. If the ranking rumors are true and UIUC dropped substantially, it may not be a school worth attending, employers may or may not be put off by the ranking drop.chowiechow wrote:Waitlisted. Shocked given my numbers!
BTW; what were the numbers?

It's still probably not worth attending but not for that reason

Re: UIUC Class of 2016
I know employment and job placement are pretty sticky, and I know employers don't care very much about rankings, but wouldn't a scandal such as the one UIUC had negatively effect employment? What I'm saying is I think what happened effected employment/medians/prestige etc that's goes into the rankings, rather than the rankings alone effecting employment.Ludovico Technique wrote:lol at employers caring about the rankingsitachiuchiha wrote:I guess you should've be too mad anymore. ^ that is my reason for why I think that employers will run like the plague from UIUC for the drop all due to the scandal

Well what I was saying is employers running causing of the scandal caused the drop. Not that the drop will cause employers to run.itachiuchiha wrote:^ that is my reason for why I think that employers will run like the plague from UIUC for the drop all due to the scandal

Your last sentence reminds me of a lovely movie quote from one of my favorite flicks. In other news: No. Illinois has a significant alumni presence and many well-established hiring tracks. No employers are going to start hiring students from Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, etc. over Illinois students because of a now two-year-old scandal. If it were going to make a difference, it would have manifested already. When I went through OCI immediately after the scandal (presumably when it would have made the largest difference) it did not have any impact on hiring numbers. Similarly, it didn't this year for current 2Ls.
There are definitely good reasons not to attend Illinois, but employers getting scared off by rankings/scandal is simply not one of them.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
