Unofficial 2013 rankings are out - Iowa jumped three spots to #26

Always welcome news. I think that with Iowa taking off its scholarship stipulations (which will bring in those higher LSAT/GPA scores who now won't fear losing their scholarship), and the new importance of hiring in US News Rankings, the ranking game will play favorably for Iowa in the next few years. Iowa's ability to decrease its class size has been solid.

Just got the admissions letter. At the bottom there was a handwritten "PS, You will enjoy our citizen lawyer program" as I had talked about public interest in my personal statement. Small thing, but a very nice touch imo. Still waiting on scholarship information though.

Congrats! I just spent the weekend in Iowa City visiting the school and checking the area out. My wife and I decided today that we're going to accept the offer. I'm really excited to move up there and get started.

How long after your acceptance letter did you receive scholarship info? It's been a couple weeks since the letter came in and I'm thinking of calling the office today and asking about merit consideration.

Has anybody had any luck w/ negotiating $? Either from a no offer or from some other starting point? I have a 50% at UIUC that I'm really hoping I can use as leverage, but I didn't know what other's experiences have been like so far this cycle.

I'm not sure Illinois is considered a peer school anymore since it is more than 20 spots behind Iowa. But its worth a shot.

Scholarships are on a rolling basis, so you'll get your letter if money opens up for you. I know that sounds ambiguous, but really that's the hardest thing to predict from Iowa.

Do you work for Iowa Law? Because really the admissions and financial aid crew are the only ones that can tell us whether or not a UIUC scholarship holds any persuasiveness for scholarship negotiation.
