Any thoughts about whether a PT invitation/acceptance would be a good indicator for invitation for Mordecai scholarships? I can see both sides...

I'm PT. Once they send you that email and you register following the link there isn't anything you have to click on the actual application to sign up for PT right?WhiteyCakes wrote:Woo! Are you ED, PT, or RD?bernaldiaz wrote:Just submitted! My first of the cycle

For one's "Why Duke" essay do you think an ending line about Cameron Indoor Stadium (Duke's bball stadium) will be taken as a solid light-hearted ending sentence, or is it trivial and probably a waste? Thanks!

Probably best to avoid notions that you are coming to Duke to be a Cameron Crazybobr wrote:For one's "Why Duke" essay do you think an ending line about Cameron Indoor Stadium (Duke's bball stadium) will be taken as a solid light-hearted ending sentence, or is it trivial and probably a waste? How necessary is the Why Duke essay if you're a PT applicant? I've never visited and I am afraid of writing one that sounds like I've only read their website and admire their law school.

It can only help. I incorporated "Why Duke" into my PS, and at the end wrote a couple sentences about looking forward to visit if I'm offered admission. I got in, so it couldn't have hurt me too much.JohnMarshall17 wrote:How necessary is the Why Duke essay if you're a PT applicant? I havent visited and I wrote one, I applied PT, and I got in... so I don't think it's a bad idea.JohnMarshall17 wrote:How necessary is the Why Duke essay if you're a PT applicant? Gotta see how the rest of my cycle pans out but Duke is high on my list.AllDangle wrote:Is anyone else 100% going? I applied ED and sent in my deposit last week.
I'm guessing the vast majority of people posting in this thread so far have no intention of attending Duke.

Duke is up there on my list, too. My wife went and loved it, and I want to work in the south. Of course, it's a long cycle and there will be a lot to consider, but it's definitely on the radar.BigZuck wrote:Gotta see how the rest of my cycle pans out but Duke is high on my list.AllDangle wrote:Is anyone else 100% going? A Mordecai might make my decision a little easier.VasaVasori wrote:Not 100% but there's a really good chance. The opportunity to get my JD and Masters in three years is hard to say no to. But there are like six schools that are tied as first choices for me right now, and Duke is only one of them. Then again, I probably won't be able to get into the others.AllDangle wrote:Is anyone else 100% going? I applied ED and sent in my deposit last week.

Are you within the numbers that normally get Mordecais? I would 100% consider Duke with a Mordecai, I'm just not sure what a typical Mordecai recipient looks like. And when they say "full cost of tuition" do they just mean tuition or full cost associated with a year of law school? If they meant the former idk why they would have said "full cost," which sort of implies books and fees and such.WhiteyCakes wrote:A Mordecai might make my decision a little easier.VasaVasori wrote:Not 100% but there's a really good chance. Re: Duke c/o 2016 Applicants Thread (2012-2013 Cycle)
I think that my numbers are close. The "leadership" aspect of it makes me a contender if they actually look past GPA/LSAT (as someone who has done hiring, I think they may). I don't think that it pays beyond tuition. The Darrow at Michigan explicitly states that it is full tuition plus more, but Duke just says full tuition.bernaldiaz wrote:Are you within the numbers that normally get Mordecais? EDIT: I think my #s are at least good enough for the special interview invitation. From there it's a crap shoot
