Also dinged. My first of the cycle. It's funny that Berkeley was the only school in the T14 which LSP listed me as 'Admit'. Obviously I already knew not to trust that thing, but now it's even more apparent.

Dinged today by email/status checker. It stings a bit given my stats. But I'm happy to have gotten into some other good schools and my SO wants to live on the east coast anyway. And I'm glad Aspen got in.

Ok, this is awesome. Congrats EMZE!EMZE wrote: On top of all that, I am a 3.4/167 non-URM.
Also, Berkeley - whhyyy are you on the fence about the Old Man? I know you like high GPAs but the guy has WE and engineering and a 178. Let him in so I can have hope. Dammit.

Amen to this. I do think that this also applies to me. I really do think there are many different factors that schools consider in making decisions. Not to say that numbers aren't important because they are and you should try put yourself in the best position possible numbers-wise. However, it certainly is more than just numbers.goodthings wrote: Glad to hear this from someone else. I have been watching this thread a little and considered weighing in multiple times: I am so far outside what this forum seems to think is the appropriate range of application numbers, and I've done just fine. If I followed the advice and common thinking such as that found on this forum, I would not have the academic background or admissions I do because I wouldn't have even tried. You really are more than your numbers, and especially with regards to a school like Berkeley.
I wish I saw this nuanced viewpoint more often on TLS.

So...was anyone else told the Faculty Admissions Committee would begin deliberations on 2/17 with an anticipated final decision on or around 3/9? Because I fall into that category.

@goodthings: agree completely! My LSAT score is below the median (on in some cases, below the bottom 25%) of every T14 school I got into, and yet my cycle turned out much better than I anticipated.
I think TLS general wisdom tends to underestimate the importance of soft factors. Soft factors alone may rarely get somebody into a top school, but it can definitely make up for another deficiency in your application.

Re: Bezerkeley Faculty Review Support Group 2012
Goodluck to all those in FR2!
I mentioned my experience earlier in this thread, and not sure how much was sheer luck, but I wrote an informal e-mail to the admissions office on a Wednesday evening (after many of the acceptances from FR1 had gone out and only 1 more posted acceptance after mine on TLS) and the following morning got the call.
Since the FR email didn't mention the option to add to the file, I kept it informal and short. Whether it was my e-mail that tipped me over into the admit pile or if my file was already there, I will never know, but as a non URM with a median LSAT and GPA .4 below their median, I think it probably came down to a personal, vice numerical, decision for the adcomms on my file.

Definitely so- I followed the example and sent a short LOCI... DEFINITELY hoping for a Berkeley surprise, it's an absolute #1EMZE wrote:Goodluck to all those in FR2!

did anyone's bio/address/demographics section change today? mine did according to the status check program. I probably would not have noticed otherwise (the review date didn't change or anything...)
