Long time lurker first time poster. So aside from being in fun NYC how many of you on here are as enthusiastic as I am of getting good grades in law school and still managing to get into some wild and crazy fun haha. I refuse to let law school kill the fire that burns within me. Can I get an Amen?! Or perhaps now that I got into a t6 I should just grow up huh?

If we end up being classmates, I can tell you're going to be a bad influence on me.

not really, just an acceptance notification letter with a personalized note and a form for intention to enroll or withdraw

Really? My post it almost made me cry, it was so nice. But the way he wrote it made me think he'd had an experience similar to what I wrote about in my PS, so maybe that was why.

Around 10% of the class I believe, although I don't remember where I read that... Obviously most of the opportunities will by in NY, I do believe that CC place similarly/slightly better on the West Coast. Of course, if you absolutely want to work in LA, Berkeley is probably a better option than NYU

obviously this in no way helps to answer the original questions but I have to imagine that self selection plays a role here. I can definitely see a case being made the an NYU degree might get you some traction simply because its a good one and there arent many in LA so it would intrigue some folks.

Standard disclaimer though, who the heck am I and what do I know???

I have been told that Berkeley is very well respected on the East Coast, and NYU on the West Coast. It's not like people think that Berkeley is a T20 in NYC or they're ignorant of the t6 in Cali. The only differences (and I guess they're big ones) are really alumni connections and recruiting.

FWIW I have a good friend who just graduated NYU Law. She was super gung ho about it, especially because she knew that I wanted to do PI. When I told her that I was fairly certain I wanted to practice in the Bay Area, she completely changed her tune. Might be different for LA, but I think she still would have recommended Berk anyway.

Right, I wasn't implying that it was one or the other depending on where you want to work, but naturally your ability to network and where you have more direct access will be somewhat impacted by location.

I'd say expect a week. I live in NYC and it took two days from when it was actually mailed (which was 2 days late. "Sent" on 12/12 but postmarked 12/14).

Started doing both last night. To my understanding based off of old threads, you can do both with your last tax returns/estimates for your next tax return.
