Re: Hastings 2011-2012 Cycle
At one of the info sessions I asked and he said they essentially look at your index score (LSAT + GPA) and tend to give out decisions based upon that in cycles. I went complete 1/6 and was admitted in about 2 weeks.brooke.of.berk wrote:Anybody know how long it normally takes to hear from Hastings? I've only been complete since 1/12, so I imagine it could take a while, but I know some people who applied in late December/early January have already heard back.

Re: Hastings 2011-2012 Cycle
Got my phone call around 2 PM today. Submitted my application a week or so before Thanksgiving, and sent in my updated GPA in January (because it was higher than before).
So for scholarships... I have to apply separately? Or do they just come with? I've never applied for scholarships/aids before, so I have no idea what to do. And does Hastings have a webpage where I can log in and read around?
Oh yeah, I'm still waiting on Davis.

You'll get info for their admitted students site in a few days in the mail. There's not that much info on it though, IMO.
They don't award any aid (merit or need-based) until you submit your FAFSA and their supplement --LinkRemoved--. The deadline is March 1st.

Re: Hastings 2011-2012 Cycle
Thanks for the link! I didn't even apply for FAFSA in high school because I didn't think I could quality. I want to try it now, though. How likely is it that I'll get some aid even though my parents both have good-paying jobs?odetojefferson wrote:Congrats!aliceydu wrote:Got my phone call around 2 PM today. And what about scholarships? That's not FAFSA right?

I'm in the same boat as you. The great thing about Hastings is they only consider need-based aid based upon the data for you. Even if you fill in the FAFSA for your parents, they just ignore that part and only consider you.aliceydu wrote:

Hastings has a reputation for mainly giving out need-based aid, but at one of the info sessions the dean said they were increasing merit-based aid this year. However, they will not award any of this until you fill out financial aid information. I believe if you get everything filled out by the deadline you will learn of your scholarships/need-based aid at the same time.

Re: Hastings 2011-2012 Cycle
I filled out FAFSA just now. I didn't put my parents' information, so hopefully what you said is true! Do scholarships usually come with my acceptance package? What if I didn't get anything? Can I apply somehow?odetojefferson wrote:I'm in the same boat as you. The great thing about Hastings is they only consider need-based aid based upon the data for you. If you check LSN only one person who was ED has received a scholarship. I mentioned above that it comes with your financial aid package in general.aliceydu wrote:

All the information I am telling you is directly from the dean at an info session on campus MLK weekend.

Do we mail in the Supplement prior to being accepted? If so, do we just mail it to the Financial Aid Office. Thanks in advanced.

Just requested off work to attend that day. A drink would be a solid idea after the long day.steepair wrote:anyone going to the march 24th admitted students day? i'm in SF and planning on attending. maybe we can all get a drink or something after?
