I got an email saying they were not going to offer me financial aid, followed less than a week later saying I had in fact been awarded aid, and now I can’t figure out what it is because my stupid username won’t activate. smh

I was wondering if everyone receives this information or if this is any indication on an acceptance/denial? Not sure what to make of it, it came a while after I applied and it said you must be an admitted student or an enrolled student to have an account. Thanks!

I was admitted today, and my application went complete on February 10. For anyone still waiting to hear back from Ohio State, the status checker is pointless. Ohio State was a reach school for me, but I somehow got in. So, I will most likely be attending this fall. 158/3.85 Ohio resident

Congrats! I'm aware that the status checker for Moritz is pointless, yet I still check it daily around the end of the work day (right after I check my empty mailbox and ensure my e-mail inbox is still empty) just to be sure .

Since it's getting down to crunch time with deposits due next Monday and still no decision on my file, should I be sending a LOCI to Ohio State?

Hi! I got my id a few days after applying. I looked into it, apparently its how the university and law school keep up to date on you. A few people got it and then were not admitted.

Keep an eye on the status checker. I found out my acceptance through the mailings, not the actual status. That never updated!

From what I've figured, law school kids are pretty spread out as far as neighborhoods go. I know quite a few 1Ls are living in the apartments across from Drinko above Chase Bank, Phat Wraps, etc. I've heard they're a bit pricey but the convenience is pretty awesome. I live in the Victorian Village/Harrison West area and LOVE it. I would recommend checking the apartment communities along Thurber Dr W. Grandview is another popular option. I have some friends that live in the Short North...but some of them have the unfortunate situation of living above bars or other noisy/late night places so be careful for that. There's another group that live up in Clintonville in like Olentangy Village and the other places up there.

I've rented through Wallace F Ackley Co. before (they have many rentals in UA / Grandview area) and they are a pleasure to work with. Worth checking out if you'r looking for a house, condo, or duplex instead of an apartment. Not always easy to find a place far in advance, however. WFACO.com.

I have a school parking pass. If I do not get to school before 8am, I do not get a spot. In the fall, I actually did not buy a parking pass - I just took the bus. It's absolutely doable, I ended up getting the pass when the weather got bad because I had a significant unpaved walk to my bus stop which just wasn't as accessible in bad weather.

School pass is definitely cheaper than the Gateway, but with the Gateway you get guaranteed parking. Food for thought I guess. I end up parking in the Gateway lot (for $1/hr) when I get to school too late to get a parking spot in one of the lots.

That's exactly where I took the bus from It's the 18 or the 7 and they run every 20-30 minutes. It's about a 15-20 minute bus ride. I did that for the entire fall semester.

I sat in on Torts w/ Cole in the Fall and it seemed that there wasn't a lot of time spent on 1 single person, but a lot of individuals being called on to answer more specific questions, or to add on to the previous person's answer. That was just my perception from part of a double Torts class, however, so you may take what I say with a grain of salt.

Varies wildly by professor. You bring up a very good point as for why I've come to appreciate cold calls: they encourage me to remain engaged. Most of the professors I've had, though, are able to keep interest even when you know you're not going to get called on. My CivPro professor, for example, has our names in an envelope and would pull 1-3 people per class until he went through everyone. After you spoke, you knew you weren't going to get called on again until after everyone else had gone, but he's such a good teacher that it didn't matter.

My crim professor was probably the least predictable in his cold calling. Sometimes he'd use the Socratic method on a single student the entire period, sometimes he'd just lecture, he often took volunteers, but sometimes he'd also cold call a handful of different students. Plus he, too, is an excellent teacher, so he was good at keeping us engaged regardless. I've also had professors designate students to be "on call," another who keeps track of the quality as well as quantity of your answers when determining whom to call on, one who pretty much only takes volunteers (well, sometimes he takes eye contact as volunteering), and one who makes sure everyone has recited a case before starting over but will also go down the line with quick/short answer problems regardless if you've spoken already.

I've only heard of one 1L professor who is terrifying, but even his students feel they're better off for it.

tl;dr - there are nearly as many different methods employed as there are professors, but nothing to really be afraid of regardless. You might even find the style you actually prefer is the one you initially feared.

Honestly doesn't matter. Either way is fine, if I end up far off campus (grandview for instance) then I will just get a pass or park at the Gateway.

E-mail. Scholarship information is apparently forthcoming. My decision is between OSU and Case, and I am pretty sure I will go with OSU. Best of luck everybody!
