Good luck to you!

So who is all going to ASW in March? Any TLSers want to meet up before?

Thank you. I appreciate that.

If I get in- I will certainly be there. You from USC?

I'll probably be at the stuff on the Friday since I work on Saturday. But I do live and work in Irvine/Newport so I'll definitely be around.

Finally received the scholarship letter from Irvine. 55K first year, with possibility of renewal with a 2.0 (!).

Someone earlier posted a similar number.

I was shocked too. Thought it was a typo when I saw the letter.

If I hadn't received the Berkeley admission (thought I would never get in), I would definitely pick Irvine. But, Berkeley is hard to pass up.

I think i would take Berkeley. Although to be fair i have an irrational love of Berkeley to the point that I am thinking of retaking and reapplying.

Congrats!!

I'm the one that also got 55K. I believe there's one more ITT as well.

Found out my offer today! 20K! Pretty good amount, but I'm sorta hoping I can use it to negotiate with Hastings because I'd rather be in the bay area.

165/3.72

I'm not sure how negotiating with a UCI offer will go. Anyone have any thoughts?

Applied around Thanksgiving and still haven't heard back - anyone have this experience? The confirmation e-mail sent to applicants says 4-6 weeks for a decision. Beginning to suspect that my rejection letter was lost in the mail (Irvine only sends e-mails to admits/WL). :(

I feel like I am also going to end up deciding between UCI and Hastings (unless I get USC, got dinged at UCLA last night  ) I only got 15k to UCI, a little bit more might convince me to stay. I hope Hastings throws a little bit my way...every penny counts in this battle. Let me know if you figure out how to approach negotiations...or if anyone wants to have UCI v. Hastings discussion with me...I'm sort of having a meltdown.

You and I both. It's a tough decision- just waiting for UCH's offer.

Let me know what you find out. It makes me sad they have a reputation as stingy SOB's. Bleh.

Am I getting ripped off here? I have a sub-20k scholly offer. Stats are ~167/3.78+

Non-URM/In-state male.

I'm in at several reach schools, so I'm assuming there wasn't anything shockingly wrong with my application. Also, my PS discussed a bit about growing up licking food stamps for dinner... Are they anticipating that I'll be eligible for a lot of need-based grants?

Is it possible to negotiate for higher amounts by letting them know about other acceptance offers?

You can go ahead and submit your FAFSA, wait a bit (not sure what timeframe to give you), and contact them to discuss it. That sounds like a pretty good thought about the need-based potential...

I'd wait to try negotiating until you have that info.

Good luck either way.
