Has anyone heard about scholarships yet?
My admission email said they would be out the first week of March at the latest via email. They've got one more day lol

I've been under review for over two weeks - still no news.

I'm still sitting at application complete since January. I'd kill for an "under review."

From the admitted students website:
"Scholarship awards will be made by March 9, for those who will receive a scholarship award. The awards notification will be sent via email and will include the amount of the award and the terms for renewal."

Just read back a bit. They have until Friday. Also, a current student said:

ugh here's hoping for acceptance + scholarship in the next week then....

I'll have my fingers and toes crossed for the both of us. I'm waiting on pins and needles over here.

Based on the experience of applicants from last year, it would probably best for your mental health to completely ignore any "we will send out [information] by" dates that you get from them. Hang in there, y'all :/

I remember when I was under review.. I was a wee lad of mid-january... still looking for ANYTHING! Come on UNC. Is it your goal to hang people on the line till school starts?

No. But getting a scholarship to UNC Law is about as easy as squeezing blood from an Australian quartz crystal. HTH.

Most people I know (who have talked about it) aren't on scholarship. Most of us just wanted to be here, so we chose the school at full price.

Applying for citizenship in NC for 2L is considered a lot more reasonable than other state schools, right?

I do prob want to settle down in NC, which is why that is attractive to me.

No. Not at all. NC is super tough to gain residency for tuition purposes. Especially with all the budget setbacks.

Got an email from the Office of FinAid asking me to Log into my ONYEN account to view my award amount - Is this just because I completed my FAFSA? Anyone else get this?

Yep - it had my loans from the office in it based on FAFSA. Not sure if that means 0 scholarship or not.

hi guys! this is this first time i've posted here. I called the admissions office and asked about this. The financial aid email is separate from the potential scholarship email. The email about scholarships is scheduled to be sent either tomorrow or early next week.

p.s. I'm an admitted student & super excited about Carolina Law

Under review for a while myself too but realistically, I don't care. I want to go to UNC so if they're going to admit me they can take their time. I'll still go. I'm a reach though, ~3.3, 158, and out of state (Miami, FL). Talked with Jennifer Kott a few times though and really sparked my interest. Praying for good news.

We're in the same boat 159 and 3.66 I lack the diversity that I've heard UNC looks for on out of state students, unless you count the fact that grads from my school attend Memphis on the reg... that or unaccredited universities...

It's not just racial diversity, you know. My diversity essay was about having been involved in a bunch of random organizations in undergrad--fencing club, Queer Student Union*, Taiwanese Student Association*, and Harry Potter Club, to name a few.

Will UNC get back to us by April 1? I have decisions to make and it's coming down to the wire now.

I got the guts to call Carolina Law and ask when decisions will be released... She said that *HOPEFULLY* they will send out more decisions by next week, but she does not know and that we should not be alarmed. She also stated they have only given decisions to 202 people and she expects to get 250 more out by the end of this month. She also said that May 1, every applicant will have a decision. I thought all of you guys will like to know this information.

"Congratulations. You have been awarded a merit scholarship from The University of North Carolina School of Law. This award is $20000.00 and will be renewed each academic year for three years provided you enroll and remain in good standing at The University of North Carolina School of Law."

I'm super excited, but real quick question: Does this mean it's $20,000 per year? Just making sure that's not the total award amount over three years. Anyone?
