Re: Emory c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Hi – this is Ethan Rosenzweig, the dean of admission and financial aid at Emory Law. Thank you for allowing me to post in this forum from time-to-time. The application-review portion of the admission cycle is in full-swing, and I thought it helpful to provide an update about where we are in the process at this point.
• First Wave of Decisions: We have completed mailing our first wave of acceptance letters. In the next few days, this group will also receive an admitted student booklet via postal mail. If a merit-based scholarship is awarded, a notification letter is included in the booklet. Information on Visiting Day (Saturday, March 31st) is also enclosed. (One of my favorite days….barbecue!)
• Next Wave of Decisions: Less than half of our acceptances are mailed in the first wave. We are working towards sending an additional group of acceptances by the middle of next week. Those accepted in this next wave will receive their acceptance letter, admitted students booklet and merit scholarship notification (if awarded) all in one envelope.
We anticipate sending additional acceptances following this next wave as well. Our goal is to have all applicants notified of their standing by late March.
I remember how anxious I was at this point in the process when I applied to school, and I want to assure everyone that we are working expeditiously to issue decisions. We delve into each file several times as we review each application. I know how hard you worked to craft a perfect application, and we owe it to you to review your file deliberately and comprehensively. I appreciate your patience.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to reach out to us at admission(a)law.emory.edu.

Ask and you shall receive...accepted today
I submitted in early December. The handwritten note IS very nice. No $$ info in the letter, said it'll come later this month. I desperately needed some good news today, so thank you, Emory!

Ah dumb me, just checked the mail and had the packet as well! Was awarded $60K, but will probably be withdrawing if they have the same no-negotiation policy as in recent years. I really like Emory, but I have other cheaper options at this point unfortunately (maybe I'll try to let ASW win me over though).

I'm on the same page. I really like Emory, but I have better offers from other schools. Hopefully I can make it to ASW.
And congrats to the recent scholarships!BKCentral wrote:Ah dumb me, just checked the mail and had the packet as well! lol damn. I really haven't been waiting that long. But I know a guy who got his decision already and applied in mid-January. I'm gonna get a new perspective on patience once this is all over.cutecarmel wrote:wlee1220 wrote:+2mcdeeremitch wrote:+1john1990 wrote:Hopefully I'm in the next wave of decisions.

got my scholarship offer today... it was very generous but tuition at emory would still be about 14k a year more for me than it would be at william and mary. is it really not worth it to try negotiating? it is a deciding factor for me.

From what I hear, they have a pretty strong no-negotiation policy. Maybe showing some real interest in the school though may help.gatorapplicant wrote:got my scholarship offer today... it was very generous but tuition at emory would still be about 14k a year more for me than it would be at william and mary. is it really not worth it to try negotiating? it is a deciding factor for me.

It can't hurt to try, right? If you say that you'll commit if they give you a better offer they may reconsider.gatorapplicant wrote:got my scholarship offer today... it was very generous but tuition at emory would still be about 14k a year more for me than it would be at william and mary. is it really not worth it to try negotiating? it is a deciding factor for me.

What are all these notes people are talking about? Mine just said "Congrats". Does this mean I'm not special?stillwater wrote: Nice handwritten note.
