It is still super early in the cycle - and there is no way any school could afford to cut 2/5 of their incoming class.stingray wrote:Sorry to everyone who got dinged today. Sheesh, at this point I'm just praying for a WL.
It certainly seems like they are trying to reduce their class size this year, and that probably isn't a bad thing for GW to do--aren't they notorious for having extremely large classes? If they go from 500 to 300 matriculants, cutting out the bottom 200, they may have the potentintial to increase their medians significantly. But it does suck for those of us that thought having numbers around last years 75th percentile, would give us a good shot at getting in. 75th percentile looks like a crapshoot this year.

Got the little letter via snail mail today. I didn't know what to think when I saw the size; it felt like a lottery. Thrilled about the acceptance.

Re: GW c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Applied 10/25, complete 11/4, and haven't heard a peep, despite the vast majority of others with my timeline receiving a response by now. I'm a huge splitter with very strong softs. I guess they are just waiting to see how their applicant pool develops before getting back to me because my numbers are so weird, but I should share my status in case there are others like me out there waiting on GW.
Anyone else complete around 11/4 and still waiting?

You're right about it being early in the cycle. And beyond that, we probably can't tell much from LSN and TLS. We are just a small slice of the 9000 applications they receive every year. Still, it is disheartening to see some of these rejections.luxxe wrote:It is still super early in the cycle - and there is no way any school could afford to cut 2/5 of their incoming class.stingray wrote:Sorry to everyone who got dinged today. Welll... my mood just turned around (I was the 167/3.5 wondering if I'll just under perform everywhere after GW wouldn't even give me a WL). Just got in Minn today!
Best of luck to all acceptances / still waiting in GW, definitely a great school (even though I was bitter lol)

Sucks that we're getting dinged, but I give them credit for reducing class size ITE, if that's what they're doing.

Yeah I felt the same way about Texas. I have lower GPA than you do, but for very different reasons (pre-med courses) and I'm WLed. But yeah I haven't heard anything from UMN in about two months lol.ThreeRivers wrote:Lol thanks and I'm tryingfltanglab wrote:Being rejected sucks. I've had that happen 3 times already. But you could easily get accepted somewhere else, so don't lose hope!
I've been accepted into Washington and Lee / rejected from Texas and now GW
The Texas one really didn't bother me at all because I really expected it / was over it by the time I was done reading the e-mail
The GW really surprised me, and its not the actual rejection that has me upset but fear that something is wrong with my app that I'm not seeing and I'll underperform this cycle lol
I have a 3.44 gpa, but sadly that's with a 0.00 gpa in my freshman year (have gotten all 4.0's since). I obviously wrote an addendum and I was kind of hoping this would be a "good" soft in that my gpa was a 3.9+ if you take away one semester. Maybe schools are instead viewing it as a "this kid has the potential to have that 0.00 again" (even if that was 5 years ago lol)

Not sure if this was already addressed earlier in the thread...but does anyone have any idea when GW sends out merit scholarship info? Is it next year? Or soonish after your acceptance?

I was wondering this as well... I got my original letter a couple of weeks ago (snail mail) but haven't heard about scholarships yet. Hoping it's soon!msblaw89 wrote:Not sure if this was already addressed earlier in the thread...but does anyone have any idea when GW sends out merit scholarship info? Is it next year? Don't give up hope. I got accepted awhile back with a 3.27 and a 172.aaramil wrote:Apparently GW isn't giving much love to splitters this year. I really hope my December LSAT increases by at least a point, or else my anticipated W/L -> Acceptance becomes an auto-ding.

I hate you GW, I’m considering withdrawing before you can ruin my cycle’s momentum with a WL or reject. HA!

I'm feeling the same wayyy. People that have applied later than me with much lower numbers have been accepted already (which I am SUPER SUPER happy about for y'all, just feeling neglected).AmandaPB wrote:I hate you GW, I’m considering withdrawing before you can ruin my cycle’s momentum with a WL or reject.
