TCR. You may want to work in Florida, but it is very important to ask if people from the schools you are looking at are actually getting jobs in the state and in the field you are interested in. For example, you may WANT to work in NY, but that doesn't make Hofstra the right choice. Despite any "lols", you are asking good questions.JoeMo wrote:I simply said IMO that W&M is the better school which was counterpointed by arguing the #27 to #47 difference. I do agree that where you want to practice makes a huge difference outside of the T14 but so should the quality of the education you're going to receive and the potential for being employable after you graduate.

Outside of the T14, your legal education is going to be the same with a school ranked 27 or 47. Graduate with the least debt, and make sure you have friends in high places.kwais wrote:TCR. If you do have the connections then yes, you are right. If you don't have the connections then that thinking is not correct. I'm not saying that W&M is the better choice for someone looking to work in FL because I don't know anything about the FL market. Heck, if you really want to work in FL and Univ of FL places well locally (better than schools outside of the area) and they're offering you a near free ride (one that you'll be able to keep), then of course take it.LSATmakesMeNeurotic wrote: Outside of the T14, your legal education is going to be the same with a school ranked 27 or 47. The problem with this thinking is that people often think they're going to go for the cheapest ride they can find without looking at the whole picture and that sometimes creates for some very disappointing scenarios that can't be reversed.

If you don't have the connections, make them. I don't feel sorry for people that don't look at the big picture when planning something like the next three years of their lives. DO YOUR RESEARCH, PEOPLE. That said, you're right. You need to balance being debt averse with something that will get you a job. Most of the time, that's just a matter of not going to a TTT. It's kind of common sense.JoeMo wrote: If you do have the connections then yes, you are right. If you don't have the connections then that thinking is not correct. Hello All,
My file went complete on December 9, so I thought I would enter the forum. I'm just trying not to get too anxious about my file status changing, because I'm sure it will take a little while. Hope everyone who got their apps in early gets an acceptance letter soon!!!

Hey,
Can someone who knows more about the index formula help me? I know this year's index formula for UF is .026*LSAT + 0.347*GPA + .254, but I need to know exactly how to put in GPA. I'm not sure how many numbers past the decimal point you use. I assumed you use the exact number listed in the LSAC report, meaning two digits past the decimal.
Thanks

.026*LSAT + 0.347*GPA + .254
(.026*166) + (.347*3.22) + .254 = 5.69
5.70 index, probable acceptance in March.

Why do you figure March?disconnected wrote:.026*LSAT + 0.347*GPA + .254

People with your stats that sent in apps pretty late heard back Jan/Feb. I wouldn't base this year's acceptance timeline on the index numbers from last year.

Where do you find this index? And how do we know how to gauge ourselves if its different from last year?

The index is listed right above your post. If you're asking where did we find it- on LSAC. I think we can start to gauge ourselves when we see who is getting in- like so far I believe only people with a 5.8+ have got in.Benjamin1987 wrote:Where do you find this index? Does anybody know if the people already accepted have had LSAT scores far above the median and/or 75th percentile? I have a good index score, but my LSAT only meets the current median, so I'm worried it will take a while to hear back.
Thanks for the info!!!

Check back a few pages and you can see the scores of people admitted so far and also check lawschoolnumbers.com.VanillaBear wrote:Does anybody know if the people already accepted have had LSAT scores far above the median and/or 75th percentile? My status switched from "All Required Documents Received" to "File Reviewed, No Decision Reached" yesterday, so I guess the committee is working over the break. Has anyone else seen any movement on their applications

Any thoughts on when the next batch of decisions will be handed out? Probably after New Year's, right? I've been NDR for over a month, and I'm getting antsy, lol.

The next batch should start mailing about Tuesday, January 24th and arriving until Tuesday, January 31st, normally all approvals. February begins the rejects batches.

I've been in the file reviewed/ ndr purgatory for 2 weeks now, and I was wondering if making a trip up to Gainesville in early January would be a good idea. Any thoughts?
