I'm curious to know if anyone's status changed from FT to PT under program time? Very strange.

Did you apply to both? I haven't had trouble with that, but I only applied FT.

I did apply to both. I called and they said not to worry about it. Whatever that means. I'm guessing I'll be accepted into the evening program and they had to change it for when they send out the decisions. That's just a theory. If I only get into the PT program, I'll be moving to W&L anyway. I had a decision from them Nov 7, which makes this process with SMU seem ridiculous.

Ok, I figured it had something to do with that. And, yes, SMU is pretty slow, but it seems most Texas schools are this cycle.

LOL. You won't hear anything until Monday at the earliest, probably Tuesday. The way it has worked in the past is acceptance call for admitted, status checker notification for WL / reject. All the little updates they are doing now, if I recall correctly, have zero significance.

There probably isn't going to be movement on a weekend And I would expect the first round of answers to come out either Monday or Tuesday.

So do you guys think that if I have no update by tomorrow then probably a rejection? I am still stuck at complete in October. I went through last year’s thread and didn’t see anybody specifically say that they were accepted with no previous updates. Seems like updates are correlated with acceptances… Yes or no?

Other posters have said no correlation. I find that hard to believe. When doing updates for anything, I usually group things.

It seems like a lot of high numbers were updated first, so I think those were the "favorable" decisions. I could be totally wrong though, so don't hold me to it.

I didn't have an update. I searched SMU's history on TLS and on LSN and I couldn't find anyone rejected with my LSAT score, even with lower GPAs than mine.

No. This is why I tried to tell everyone not to read too much into it. And I think kalvano reiterated the same point later. While you may do things by groups, it's possible that SMU is just looking at your file, making a decision, and putting you in a pile. They could have three different piles going on at the same time. You don't know which pile you're in, and you can't tell from being updated. Similarly, just because you aren't updated doesn't mean that you're out. It just means you haven't been updated. Maybe they haven't even touched your file yet.

Breathe. Don't assume anything. The updates might not be arbitrary, but I'm fairly certain they don't mean quite as much as you think they do.

If anyone has any questions about SMU to keep your mind off of the paranoia, feel free to ask. Several 1Ls and 2Ls lurk this thread, and we're all super nice, I swear.

I also think you guys will be fine. As you said, a lot of the people who updated have generally higher numbers. Because of that, most of those people are probably in at UT or better ranked out of state schools and, without compelling personal reasons, will probably not attend SMU. Some of them will still choose to, of course, but not all. Honestly, they probably want to go ahead and let those people in so that some of them will withdraw earlier rather than later. There's no way that the people who updated the other day are enough to fill the class, especially if the good numbers thing holds true, even taking into account the extremely small sample size here.

Haha, they may not be done yet. There are quite a few people who regularly post in this thread who haven't heard anything. Don't lose hope yet!

This is encouraging. I got the 1/23 update and havent gotten a call yet. I'm gonna seriously wonder whether I f'ed up my apps if I dont get in here w/ my numbers.
