Semi-splitter love from NYU! 174 / 3.5x / RD / UR December 7th. It's my top choice, so I'm feeling ecstatic. Now let them show me some scholly love, too!

i think you misunderstood me, i am a splitter not a reverse splitter, and i am happy about this - i was just trying to indicate dieantwoord that life could be worse.Kabuo wrote:You would say this, but it's just so hard to put yourself in those shoes as a splitter. You say that and it just makes me think, "let's swap, and then I'll just retake." I'm not trying to sound like a dbag either, I just think it sucks that you can't retake your GPA. Speaking out of ignorance, obviously, I would much rather be a reverse splitter.logistikon wrote:better than being a reverse splitterDieAntwoord wrote:I hate being a splitter............

You definitely misunderstood kabuo. He was saying that he would rather be a reverse splitter so he could retake the LSAT after preparing and be a strong applicant. There is no way to "retake" our gpas, which is why being a splitter is so tough. We're stuck.

Possibly, but the way I read "You say that and it just makes me think, "let's swap, and then I'll just retake." " was that kabuo would prefer to be in the shoes of a reverse splitter like me. So I guess what I'm saying is that kabuo seems to be responding to me as if I was a reverse splitter defending splitters vs. reverse splitters, when in reality I'm a splitter defending splitters vs. reverse splitters. While it's true that one can't retake one's GPA, if one is a splitter then one has an LSAT score that will get them into some schools where they are <25% GPA, whereas if one is a reverse splitter one runs a real risk of not getting into any schools where they are <25% LSAT.

Good luck, hope they get back to you soon. Not applying this cycle, but I am a splitter, so I'll be watching this thread like a hawk! 'Grats to all of you who've already gotten into your top choices!! (:Adjudicator wrote:3.0/175 splitter checking in... so far:

This is TCR. I did assume you were a reverse splitter from the tone and no stats in profile. My bad. And I see your half full glass. Chrisbru is pretty accurate about why being a splitter is frustrating though.logistikon wrote: Possibly, but the way I read "You say that and it just makes me think, "let's swap, and then I'll just retake." I feel like LSs probably look at our numbers about the same, even with your rocking LSAT. WUSTL is also my only acceptance so far. Hope you get UW and maybe (lol) Columbia. I'll settle for Cornell or a miracle Mich RD after being rolled over.Adjudicator wrote:3.0/175 splitter checking in... so far:

Yeah, we seem to be experiencing some similar results so far. I see that you applied to UCLA; so did I, so that will be interesting, too. I know they've already been admitting people but I haven't heard a peep.Kabuo wrote:I feel like LSs probably look at our numbers about the same, even with your rocking LSAT. Random (but splitter-related) question/comment
So I just got my semester grades, and they're the best I've ever done in college. I'd be getting an LSAC bump from 3.39 to 3.42, which (at least to me) is significant because it gets me over the 3.3 hump, even if it is just really 0.03 higher, so I'm more than likely going to submit a new transcript.
Do many people send in updated transcripts to reflect improvements in GPA? I know it's possible, but I don't know how common it is. I feel like, at this point, every little bit could help.

I can't tell you from experience, but I think I've read around here that people send these things in for LOCIs for sure. I don't know if they do while still under review. I know what I would do in your shoes though. I'd send an email to the schools you are still pending at and inform them of the GPA increase, asking if they would like you to send in an updated transcript. In my experience, admissions offices have been very responsive.

Re: 2010 Splitters Application Thread
I would just update your transcript and submit a loci with updated gpa in whatever format the school desires. For example harvard does not take email attachments.kjadkins wrote:Random (but splitter-related) question/comment

I'm a splitter too. 3.05/169.
So far I've gotten into GW, Northeastern with $8,500 per year and Alabama with $24,000 per year if I stay in the top 40% of the class.
Good luck everyone!

Hi Splitters! I've gotten some love from Fordham, but I'm still waiting on a couple of top choices. I've also been playing around with MS paint, and I thought I'd share

LSAC's official guide and the applicant data charts IMO are the best - while sometimes the ranges are a little wide (165-169 LSAT is pretty big) if your numbers are towards the higher side of either GPA/LSAT you can get a much better idea.almostfamous wrote:omgg SO true w/ the above...its as if people like us never existed before!

Re: 2010 Splitters Application Thread
(174/3.4x now after fall grades 3.5x) Having a really rough cycle after an initial admit to Texas I was WL'd on ED by Chicago and haven't heard ANYTHING from any of the other 7 schools I applied to, even UCLA and Colorado which should be easy locks with my numbers (and others have heard from with similar submit dates.)
At this point I just dropped a basic study I need to graduate figuring I can always complete it during summer if I get in somewhere with an offer I'd accept and if not I can do full time summer and fall classes and push my GPA to 3.64 by the end of fall and 3.6 by the end of summer.

We've been over this before, I'm under 25th GPA% and over 75th LSAT% everywhere I applied, that makes me a splitter.TyrodTaylor wrote:you are not a splitter with a 3.5 and 170+ stop degrading our kind.... 3.13 167. Just now sending apps to WM, Emory, W&L, UNC and URichmond
