Re: NYU 2011
I am all ready to hit "submit" on my NYU app except that I am waiting on one final LOR, which will be the LOR I submit for the Root-Tilden scholarship. Is it ok to send that in late (not with the rest of my application)? I'm assuming I could have the letter writer send it directly to the school, but is it also possible for me to submit my current app with my other LORs today, then have this late LOR get sent through LSAC later?

Re: NYU 2011
I talked to the LSAC rep and apparently NYU updates their files manually from LSAC twice a month. Basically, be prepared for it to be 2 weeks before that additional letter makes its way to the committee who could have already reviewed your application. That said, they actually pulled my additional letter like 2 or 3 days after i submitted (like the 6th of the month) instead of the 1st and 15th so I wouldn't be too worried. If you're ready to submit, submit. Then, email the school immediately once the letter is updated to LSAC. If you are not comfortable to have them review your application completely however without that letter... just wait.

Re: NYU 2011
IIRC when I asked this they told me they prefer to have it all submitted at once. I would call and just ask.lyman03 wrote:I am all ready to hit "submit" on my NYU app except that I am waiting on one final LOR, which will be the LOR I submit for the Root-Tilden scholarship. +1 to all of the aboveHannibal wrote:I went under review sometime between 8:45 Pacific and 9:45 Pacific (yes I checked an hour later). It went straight from processing to under review. That said, I am an ED applicant.

I have low numbers for NYU but am also 10/20.absolutazn87 wrote:Hmm I'm in the middle ground too. Also 10/20. Are the 10/20 people all in the middle pile?cigrainger wrote:Dunno about that. Might make sense since i'm in the hazy middle ground and I've been "processing" since September..

Re: NYU 2011
Can those who are under review please post the date on which they submitted and the date on which they went under review? Also, whether you are an ED or RD candidate. Thanks in advance.

I sent mine 10/03, and the current status for UR is 10/29 & I'm RD. Don't know if it was anything earlier before, haven't been paying too much attention.

Submitted RD around 11/02, UR since 11/15. Went faster than I expected, honestly.

Shit. I submitted at the same time and am still waiting on my second LOR. WTFFF LSAC??? Hopefully I stay processing until it comes in.mr_toad wrote:Submitted RD around 11/02, UR since 11/15. Went faster than I expected, honestly.
I already emailed NYU to ask that they wait to review my app until the second LOR comes in and they said they'd do their best to accommodate me. Should I just email them as soon as it's been processed by LSAC?

Grumbles, just recognized your 'tar... I have 2066 sitting on the floor to read. Savage Detectives is the bomb. Unless I'm mistaking your tar... Bolano, right?

Re: NYU 2011
You got it. 2666 is incredible. Unlike any novel I've ever read. I actually read it before Savage Detectives, which is also amazing but very different. Savage Detectives is very romantic but also very melancholy, whereas 2666 is sinister, disorienting and actually devastating (especially "The Part About the Murders"). I have Antwerp and Last Evenings on Earth sitting on my bookshelf, too. You won't have time for novels in law school, so better get to it soon!mr_toad wrote:Grumbles, just recognized your 'tar... Yeah, 2666, not 2066. Anyways, yeah, for sure. Read for fun now is TCR.

Under Review 10/20.
RD
This 10/20 = bad or borderline numbers theory is starting to freak me out. Does anyone with amazing numbers have a 10/20 UR date?

If you read the past few posts, you'll see that yes, it does change to under review, it just takes about 2-3 weeks, seemingly.

Sorry to be snippy, I'm grading some terrible writing right now. Anyway, mine went directly from processing to under review, but that doesn't eliminate the possibility of an in-between stage. Edit: and I slightly mis-read your original post, it was more clear than I thought.

I love when people grade other people's grammar on an on-line forum. Do you feel better now? I'll be sure to triple check all of my writing from now on.
Edit: Actually, no, I'll keep writing in simple conversational style. I'll take the loss in exchange for the comfort of not worrying about it.
