Summerlin is a ways away (30 minutes to an hour, depending on route and traffic) but is probably the nicest area of town outside of the uber-expensive areas. It's consistently middle-upper middle class. If you want super expensive, try Lake Las Vegas or the new City Center area near the strip - those are marketed to the upper-middle class / wealthy.
There are some nice areas of Henderson, which is closer to UNLV, as well. My apartment, for instance, is in a fairly nice complex surrounded by lower middle class businesses and houses. Henderson has spots for all types, from lower class apartments to upper class, giant ass houses.
The odd thing about Vegas is that our 'parts of town' are scattered and small for the most part. Some of the nicest law firms in the city are squirreled away near a not very nice part of town at all. You might go 10 miles down the same street and see mansions in the middle of lower class areas, and then the scenery transitions up to middle and then upper class.
Wear some sunglasses when you open the link, but here's a little info: --LinkRemoved--. More than reading up, however, you'll want to visit and drive around to look at places. Budget several days, as the city is deceptively mixed and so you'll really need to spend a lot of time driving up and down the streets. We, as a city, grew so fast that what was 'outside of town' is now solidly urban, and what was 'out in the stix' is now well entrenched within the city proper.
