Well, faxing would probably be near as fast. However, Harvard has all app materials sent by regular mail, so I still think it might be slower than just sending the letter there directly.Legalite wrote:I originally had all my LORs faxed, which were posted in less than a day. Has everyone in the club been sending it straight? I would call H but I am in a different timezone and do not want to wake up in the middle of the night to call the office.

I had my recommender send in one copy to LSDAS and one to Harvard just to cover all bases - my file updated in a week.Legalite wrote:I originally had all my LORs faxed, which were posted in less than a day. I kinda don't feel like going through previous pages, so would anyone be kind enough to tell me what proportion of applicants are usually held by H and what the possibility of receiving an acceptance after a hold may be...
thanks

Re: Held By Harvard Club - 2010
I didn't see hold to admit, but someone previously said that most hold applicants are waitlisted and that Harvard dips into about 15% of its waitlist...so not 0 actually. Good luck! Hopefully we'll all get in!TheWire wrote:I kinda don't feel like going through previous pages, so would anyone be kind enough to tell me what proportion of applicants are usually held by H and what the possibility of receiving an acceptance after a hold may be...

At this point hold club is likely almost complete. Likely a few december applicants will be held this week. No point holding january applicants.
yea so about 60 holds here.
probably best to be in the balanced group.
and from the last two cycles on LSN:
WL/A or hold/accept (very late acceptances for early completions)
171 3.77
170 3.98
173 3.89
169 3.91
177 3.54
172 3.81
175 3.96
174 3.91
175 3.91
174 3.8
172 3.8
172 4
167 3.95
172 3.91
168 3.93
166 3.93
172 3.96
171 3.95
172 3.93
174 3.67
clearly having a 170 and 3.95 seems to be the way to get in off the waitlist. However, there are so few 176+ 3.65- applicants that its really hard to compare our chances to the much larger group of 172- 3.9+ applicants.

Oh, wow.
Also, way to have the highest LSAT of the reported #s
I'm glad you're spending your "I'm abroad so I'm awake at odd hours when TLS is quiet" time in a useful manner, instead of how I just sit here refreshing the "view new posts" page over and over again even though there aren't really that many new posts...of Benito Cereno wrote:here is the Held by Harvard Club by numbers

I'm in Europe and home sick for the day (102 fever). As for the lsat, I know its wrong to say but I'm relieved that two 177 3.5+ applicants have been rejected so far on LSN because at least it means the hold isn't an automatic response.parker09 wrote:Oh, wow.

median or above lsat and below median gpa (and especially below 25%) is a much less safe to be right now than above median gpa and below median lsat. If you're 3.85+ and 168+ you are either held or admitted. There are a few rejects in that bracket but they all seem to have a reason (3 lsats, most recent score arrived after decision etc). So basically, being held if you're in that bracket is standard practice based on numbers. Being held if you are in the first bracket (3.8- 174+) means that they actually looked at your file and liked you more than some other people with your numbers. So I still can't decide which group is better to be in. History shows most late admits come from group 2 but group 1 is much smaller (and thus naturally makes up a smaller % of late admits and smaller group to choose from should HLS decide to go with high lsat) and is made up of people who for some reason or another committee expressly preferred over peers.
this year and past two years of bracket one.... yea, so actually a pretty big sample size and not so good

Of Benito,
Impressive Stuff!
I did have a JR1 (early Nov) if you wish to update the list - not too sure how I can do it.
Another quick thing...I had my file reviewed + had interview in Oct/Nov...but wrote the LSAT again in December and got a higher score. Do you think they actually had a chance to see that secore yet? It's hard to say because the score was mailed to them on Dec.30...and I got held Jan.11...What do you think?
Thanks,

I imagine that if you got the JR1 without the 174 the 174 will likely put you over the edge in the next few weeks when they go back to reviewing old files.mozhou7 wrote:Of Benito,

Question of the day: what % of JR1 but no JR2 were received during first month of JR1s. I imagine that the vast majority of JR1-hold happened early in the cycle when JR had fewer files and more time to make calls to non auto-admits. I think there are far fewer JR1s with a UR date after mid-november. If this were true then applicants who went complete late november on aren't necessarily worse off than those earlier applicants with similar numbers who got JR1s and were also held.

i don't know about this... it seems like 1/3 of the JR1 but not JR2's are from the first month. my brief count was like 6-7 of the ~20. don't forget that for that first month of calls, he considers applicants from sept - oct and the stellar candidates from nov, which altogether comprise a significant number of apps.of Benito Cereno wrote:
