Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Sorry if this is a dumb question - I've been reading through this thread and it seems like almost everyone is interviewing. Do most people get an interview request? I'm pretty much straight on the medians for UVA, but I applied kind of late (end of Jan) and I'm nervous about how badly that'll affect me
Damn December LSAT....

Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Interviews are not necessary, but they are a very good indication of an acceptance. There are a lot of people with good numbers who have been waiting for months, if you applied in January you're close to the bottom of the pile so no reason to start worrying that you haven't heard back.darc wrote:Sorry if this is a dumb question - I've been reading through this thread and it seems like almost everyone is interviewing. Interview request today from Jennifer Hulvey! Has anyone here interviewed with her that would be willing to share their experience?

Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I only saw one other person in this thread who interviewed with her (referred to her as "Director of Financial Aid" which is why you couldn't find her in the search function. I spoke with her on the phone about financial aid, and she was very nice and helpful. I would wager the questions asked will be similar to standard questions: why law, why UVA, talk about something on your resume, and elevator pitch at the end. Good luck!Navyhornguy wrote:Interview request today from Jennifer Hulvey! Has anyone here interviewed with her that would be willing to share their experience?

I'm a pretty big splitter and I have a big unique soft.
Talk about your volunteering.
Why law school?
Why UVA?
Talk about the low GPA and why law school will be different.
Referring to my personnel statement, what area of law specifically would you be interested in?
Questions?
Any final statement to someone looking at your application?
She seemed to like my longer more complete answers best.
Look at your resume and personnel statement because she will be looking at these.
Ask good questions.
Prepare that last plea.

Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Hi everyone. I did a bit of searching and didn't see an answer for my situation, but apologies in advance if it's out there and I didn't find it. Anyway, I have a C & F question for UVA. I'm probably overthinking it, but their question about traffic violations etc is worded as follows:
Have you ever been arrested or convicted of any offense, excluding minor traffic or parking violations? Violations involving alcohol, damage to property, injury to person(s), and/or reckless driving do NOT constitute "minor" violations. This question does not require you to disclose information concerning any arrest or criminal charge that has been expunged at the time you submit this application
Is anything not listed in the second sentence considered a "minor" violation? If this were an LSAT LR question I would say it's not necessarily safe to assume that anything NOT on the list IS minor but this isn't the LSAT soooo.....I'm not sure. I have a 3 year old speeding ticket for which I pleaded no contest, paid a fine, and did online traffic school. It was an "infraction" and not a misdemeanor or criminal offense or reckless driving or anything like that, no arrest etc. Anybody else have a non-criminal speeding or similar traffic ticket, and if so, how did you respond to this question?

I had a similar situation where I had a couple speeding tickets and was fined. I just disclosed everything I had about them. Always better safe than sorry, there's no way it will affect your application based on your situation! Plus from what I've seen elsewhere around here, always better to be on the safe side for C&F for the bar as well. I was admitted before the new year FWIW. good luck!shineoncrazydiamond wrote:Hi everyone. Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I see that as a minor traffic violation. Reckless driving, criminal speeding, DUI are all different charges. But then with C and F, if you disclose something that minor that didn't need to be disclosed it probably won't matter.shineoncrazydiamond wrote:Great, thanks so much, and congrats on your acceptance!pittsburghpirates wrote:I had a similar situation where I had a couple speeding tickets and was fined. I would recommend rereading your personal statement and resume before the interview, as she had definitely freshly read them, and she had them in front of her during the interview too. Also, do think of your questions beforehand.

Applied in January and still at UR1. This wait is already killing me, I can't imagine having applied earlier and still waiting.

UR1 since 11/13, maybe we have the same reader. It's the only school I'm still waiting on and I'm guessing it isn't even good news, so what's the hold up, UVA?squirtlesquad14 wrote:UR1 since 11/12...I just want them to send me the waitlist notification and be done with it.bezmialem wrote:Applied in January and still at UR1. Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I'm still waiting on UVA and NYU. NYU I know is a waitlist...because they don't put people on the waitlist until April (seems like a cruel practice) and no reason they wouldn't have rejected by now if it was going that route. Figured UVA will be the same since for November applicants on MyLSN, 42 March decisions are waitlists, 3 acceptances and no rejections. But who knows what the holdup is. I've kind of gotten used to it being a splitter.threatlevelmidnight wrote:UR1 since 11/13, maybe we have the same reader.
