I second this. I made it very clear that Michigan was up there on my list, and I was in pretty much in continuous contact with the office in the two weeks or so between complete and acceptance. I think they really value candidates who truly want to be there.BigZuck wrote:Thanks guys!

Congrats BigZuck!
Do you guys think a LOCI would be premature if I applied ~6 weeks ago and went complete ~2 weeks ago?

I would say yes, unless you didn't include a why mich initially in which case it might be a good idea to send one in.WokeUpInACar wrote:Congrats BigZuck!

Yeah, it's early. I applied in September and waited until February to send it. Give it at least a month. Still think you'll be fine based on how your cycle has gone so far and the numbers they are targeting.WokeUpInACar wrote:Congrats BigZuck!

For the record. I didn't quite send an LOCI, but I also didn't feel my PS was that strong and I hadn't written any "Why X's" so I sent a few choice schools an "addendum" that acted both as a why x and I guess a bit as an LOCI as well because it showed them I was still interested, thinking about their school specifically and that I did some research on aspects of that school I would enjoy. Michigan was one of these schools.

Yeah basically this. You can kind of use not writing a why mich as an excuse to send them over one to consider along with your app. But don't call it an LOCI, and just make it all Mich specific. 'Bout a page and a half was mine.megagnarley wrote:I would say yes, unless you didn't include a why mich initially in which case it might be a good idea to send one in.WokeUpInACar wrote:Congrats BigZuck!

Yeah I sent what I thought was a pretty good Why Mich in originally, so I'll just (try to) be patient and wait for a bit. Getting in to Michigan was my ultimate dream goal when I decided to head back to UG and try for a top law school despite 2+ years of ~2.5 GPA on my transcript, so an acceptance would be pretty amazing.

Happy for you man. I'm still complete. I've already written a LOCI. I honestly do not know what I would say in another. Obviously already wrote a "Why Mich?" as well. This is far and away my #1, but I think LOCI #2 would come off as desperate. Thoughts?megagnarley wrote:Congrats man!BigZuck wrote:Wow! Meganarley inspired me to actually check my checker and I'm in! Is there a formal way to e-mail the dean and list the unspeakable things I would do for an acceptance?

In today. Complete early December. Sent a LOCI a week ago, but impossible to know if that helped.
Needed this emotionally after WL at GULC and UCLA.
