Hey guys, I plan on applying to Stanford next cycle and just wanted to see if you all could answer a few questions. First, is it silly to write a "Why Stanford" statement.. I know its generally thought of as ridiculous to write a "Why Harvard/Yale" and I know Chicago frowns upon extra documents but Im not sure about Stanford. Second, anyone know when Stanford begins reviewing applications?

Ok, not to make things more complicated, but they sent me an e-mail today telling me I was WLed, and that they sent me the letter on April 12. Since I'd called them on April 13 and they told me I was UR, I was confused, so I called, and they said something about not notifying people of decisions on the phone. So...?

Maybe it's worth emailing them instead of calling? They might respond with an email. I would LOVE IT if they emailed, just get it over with faster!

Ha, I'm not that smart (or that patient) to pull off a scheme like that. But, just advice to all those who continue to call: if possible, verify that, in fact, a letter was not already sent!

I still find it weird that the letter hasn't reached me. I know it's East Coast, but it seems like it would be here by now, like everyone else's.

+1, mine was sent 4/12 and still hasn't gotten to DC (probably sitting at home now though)

i spoke to a couple 3L's in my PE tennis class this morning and they told me that I should try and ask someone if I can go to the ASW this weekend... well I asked Faye and she said no it's only for admitted students, figures

man, after almost three years of doing my MS part-time while working, I finally quit my job in December to go back and wrap up my MS before law school. Just as I'm starting to really enjoy the campus and love it here, I have to move somewhere else. I'm happy to have at least experienced Stanford a little bit, but I seriously can't get myself excited about going anywhere else anymore.
