Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
WTF? How are my LORs, PS, etc not the same thing as my stats? My "softs" are the only reasons why I wasnt rejected instantaneously from H. So I was trying to shed some light on my overall application. First you say Im egotistical, then you say that Im insecure. Im typing this in a fucking tent in like 30 seconds. Im not exactly sitting down to write coherently. Just spitting out the necessary info. Have I met you? Nope. So STFU. Why do people feel the need to make ridiculous comments on boards. If you dont like what I said, then just roll your eyes at me and move on.lats19nys wrote:I wasn't talking about your stats. I was talking about the fact that you basically go along like I have a great personal statement, I have great recommendations, I have great this and that. Dude enough with the insecurities.Kring345 wrote:Um, so my stats, etc are not relevant when trying to predict whether being held is a positive or negative sign? I have a 168/3.8. That seems quite relevant (and embarassing) in the Harvard thread...lats19nys wrote:So basically from everything you said, all you actually needed to put was the last line...lol..the ego on you.Kring345 wrote:Hey guys.
Im in Afghanistan and no internet access. Im currently in transit for a quick trip, so I have access for about 20 minutes before my flight arrives. So I hope someone responds quickly.
I was able to check my email and saw that I was held last week with a 3.8 /168. I have amazing work experience (USMC with 3x combat deployments), greatLORs, and a very well-crafted personal statement drawing off military, responsibility, maturity, etc over the course of a specific/technical project I supervised in Af last year. Gtown, Michigan, and UCLA all commented on how much they loved my PS.
What does held mean? I'd do the research myself, but I have very little time. Have they sent out rejections yet and it simply means I wasnt one of the first people rejected? I know about once a year or three, they accept someone with my stats who will add diversity to their class. So Im trying to figure out if I should continue laughing at my chances at H or if the held is a good sign that they are actually considering me.
Also, how do I submit additional material? LORS through LSAC? Updated resume through snail mail? LOCI through snail mail?
Thanks.
Hmmm Maybe I should practice what I preach...

I would probably try to call/e-mail Harvard if possible to check to see how they would prefer LORs? I just tried to do a quick Google search and couldn't find an answer

@lats19nys How sad is your life that you feel the need to antagonize a vet in Afghanistan for venting 30 seconds of his legitimate concerns/questions on a forum where people spend every day mindlessly speculating about date changes in a status checker. His softs are clearly a very strong aspect of his application and therefore completely relevant to his question about what his post-hold status chances are.

Wow rofl how dumb are you. Have you met me then? Trust me douche bag. I'm glad the marines I know aren't scumbags like you and have to pat yourself in the back everytime for being a marine. Marines do the things they do cuz they stand for what's right unlike you douchebag who only does it to talk about how great you are. Yeah grow up dipshit.

How said is it that you seek to patronize people instead of treating people for what they actually say or do. I treat everyone the same for their merits unlike you. Let me guess you're the type of person who looks at disadvantage people as somehow beneath you and worthy of your protection.jetissent wrote:@lats19nys How sad is your life that you feel the need to antagonize a vet in Afghanistan for venting 30 seconds of his legitimate concerns/questions on a forum where people spend every day mindlessly speculating about date changes in a status checker. +1. I don't think anyone in here wants to listen to you talk down to someone asking for help because he is in Afghanistan and doesn't have the 24/7 internet access we all have. Ridiculous.thelong wrote:wtf man?

You sound like a republican presidential candidate who's trying to convince people welfare is bad for the poor. Here's hoping your law school cycle is as successful as Newt's marriage history.

What is relevant is how an admissions committee would view his softs, not how fellow veterans would or how you would. That's why he shared the info: to help us understand his application and how it was presented to the admissions committee so that we could analyze the meaning of his hold. Your immature reaction is completely uncalled-for, and it says more about your insecurities than his ego.lats19nys wrote:Wow rofl how dumb are you. Have you met me then? Trust me douche bag. But seriously, guys: this anxiety and uncertainty is tearing our friendly community apart! Happy thoughts from here on out. We will have at least three years to backbite and snipe once we get to law school... no need to burn out on it just yet!
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
