question: is there anyone else who submitted earlyish, but asked to hold for their December LSAT? I did this, and got the weird hold email, but attributed it to my second lsat score (as that was mentioned as a reason in the email). now i'm freakin out a little!

i havent been checking the admitted students site (i know if i try to log in once it will become my favorite habit and ill never stop) but is there anyone in this situation who has been admitted??

Check the admitted site once a day. I don't even look at the checker because the checker changes days after you get in the admitted site.

I just got offered 90k at UVa. I don't know what is what at this moment Will make all the ASWs and sort it out mid April.

Wow 90K is incredible and UVA is a great school. Id imagine that would be hard to turn down. Congrats!

Thanks, it really is hard to turn down. I am sure I am in for 45k at Michigan, so a bit of negotiation is in store.

Actually the first UVa open house is the weekend after the first ASW at Michigan, so I can make this work.

Just as an FYI. . . for those who may have read that setting aside an ED is doable―that certainly was not my experience. I figured since I was a reach, they would happily offer my seat to someone more worthy. Instead, I received a lecture about the obligations of an ED. I felt like I was under interrogation to disclose the name of the Florida law school I was prepared to opt out to. Since I chose not to say, the conversation went in circles. I finally said I would purchase a pair of woolen mittens and a heavy coat and I would be there in the fall. They said, I would not need them in the fall― yeah, right.

I know I’ll propably like it, but. . . .

What? Did you try to ED at 2 schools? That post was thoroughly confusing...

Edit: Post needs a definitions section

"set aside" means trying to rescind an ED contract after admission
"opt out" means enrolling in at an RD school after an ED acceptance

Let me make it Crayola simple. ED to one school. Had a change of heart. Asked on TLS what the chances were of opting out of the ED. Feedback was fairly positive.

The more I think about it, the ED is a roll of the dice trap favoring the law school. What if the student applicant did not reach high enough or later decides the debt is more than one should undertake in this down economy or an RD school offers a substantial scholarship, etc. The ED is a one way we got you contract providing the school with a skewed advantage. Lesson learned―unfortunately the lesson lasts for three long years,

And, ironically, Michigan is pushing to reduce the over-use of ED, or at least "floating" ED. But in general, the dean has listed similar (to your) arguments against ED.
