Hey I've been waitlisted too - anyone want to offer up their stats from the WL? I'm trying to figure out where they have drawn the line. I'm at SMU undergrad with 3.7 and 163 and was WL'd on Tuesday.
Here's a good tool to see what types of numbers got WL'd:

Yeah I've been really surprised with their waitlist. I thought that I'd be in, especially being an undergrad. And if you have a 165 that seems pretty surprising too. It seem to me that they have kind of a 164, with lower GPA or 3.75 and above with lower LSAT cut off their using.
I'm really hoping that some earlier posts have been right and there are alot of people with really high numbers that got accepted wiht big money that are holding out for a lot of other schools they applied for. I guess we'll see...

I was waitlisted today with a 3.1 167. So much for putting off my applications for the last minute.

165 LSAT, 3.5 GPA. I did the optional scholarship essay too.
Well, that's what I get for applying at the 11th hour.

Right. At a time when many universities would rather throw shoes at W, SMU is definitely reciprocating for the Presidential Library choice.
The North Dallas suburb into which I'm moving the family is 85% Republican (according to census data). From the perspective of crass political opportunism, being affiliated with the school that's closely affiliated with Bush 43 (it's Laura's alma mater, by the way) doesn't hurt if you're trying to work in the metroplex or Texas in general.

/feels better now that other high-ish LSAT's got WL'd (including a splitter with BOTH #'s better).
Looks like it was more the late LSAT than anything horribly wrong with my application. Relief.

Does someone have the data for how many people got off SMU's WL in the last few years and when this occurred?

Hahaha no joke, its lovely. Barrister's Ball was by far the best.. open bar, all niiiight. When I interviewed for Sumner's, we had a party with an open bar and large amounts of wine with dinner (though I'm halfway convinced that was part of some kind of test...lol).

I don't think so. I have two friends who are 2Ls, both of whom were admitted to SMU Law off of the wait list-- and one with a full scholly!

Found a package (hotel, flight, car) for like $400 out of DC, but still trying to see if I can afford it. I really should get down there since I'm blindly choosing SMU, but from what everyone has said, I won't be disappointed.

I'll be there... Will you two be looking for a place to live? You all have any ideas? I'll probably try an apartment locator...
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
