I wonder how much they actually read... or how many people they have reading PS throughout the cycle.

I was considering this as well, but my PS doesn't really talk about my personal and career ambitions. My worry is that I would come across as a guy who doesn't read or disregards the instructions.pylon wrote:Same here. that's a fair concern. mine didn't either though, and it wasn't an issueYeezusPiece wrote:I was considering this as well, but my PS doesn't really talk about my personal and career ambitions. Mine didn't mention career/personal ambitions either and it was also fine, but I see what you're saying. Sorry I guess that's not really helpful lolYeezusPiece wrote:My worry is that I would come across as a guy who doesn't read or disregards the instructions.

Re: TLS c/o 2018 Applicants
To add another anecdote, I didn't address those things in my PS either, and it was fine. I'm a pretty solid splitter too, so it's not like I was a sure admit because of my numbers. I figured rewriting my PS to artificially include those elements would have made it worse, and I was definitely too lazy to write up a whole separate PS.pylon wrote:Mine didn't mention career/personal ambitions either and it was also fine, but I see what you're saying. Ignoring everything in the prompt except for formatting/length constraints is TCR for all schools

Can't tell if this is sarcasm or not... If not, I'm just going to go ahead and send in my PS as is.pulstar1 wrote:Ignoring everything in the prompt except for formatting/length constraints is TCR for all schools

Re: TLS c/o 2018 Applicants
Haha no, not sarcasm. Sorry if it came off that way. I looked at the prompts for all the schools I applied to, and wrote a PS to fit the most restrictive length limit. Submitted that PS to every school (except I did make slight changes for Columbia and UChi to integrate some historical facts about the schools that relate to my weird major).YeezusPiece wrote:Can't tell if this is sarcasm or not... Does anyone know when LSAC is supposed to update the chart that shows how many people took the Dec LSAT? I figured that would have been released by now.

They used to do it the same day as score release, but they've gotten lazy. Please bug them for me.Scruffy wrote:Does anyone know when LSAC is supposed to update the chart that shows how many people took the Dec LSAT? I figured that would have been released by now.

Is it rude if I call and ask? I mean they must have that number by now.

Not rude at all. Please report back if they tell you. Hopefully it will just prompt them to update the chart.Scruffy wrote:Is it rude if I call and ask? @Dirigo
They put me on hold so I hung up after 10 min. I decided to send them an email instead. I'll report back if I hear anything.

I already hate waiting to hear back after application is submitted. I'm under review for one of my schools. I saw on LSN where there were some who went under review and heard back the next day, but I don't know if that was true since most people claim it takes about a month.

Good find. Not great news, but not bad news either really. It could also be a blip like last February (and it's smaller than that one).Scruffy wrote:They finally updated the chart. Test takers went up slightly in Dec![]()

To really help shed light on the rest of this cycle, we'll need to see the score bandwidth data.
ETA: Actually, I'm recalling that last December's numbers were probably even lower than they should have been because of the inclement weather, which may have helped lead to the February bump (anyone else have info on this?). If everyone who intended to take the December test last year had been able to, this year could maybe have been less than last year.

Went UP? That's shocking.
Granted it isn't indicative of anything since last February went up only to plunge back down June and September.

Re: TLS c/o 2018 Applicants
Any info on new vs retakes?
It could also be that people are being more selective of when and where they apply (leading to more retakes in hopes of higher stats)
