I have a question I'm hoping you guys can help me with. I got held at Penn almost two weeks ago, and I'm planning to send them something to show I'm still interested.

The hold email says: "Please feel free to submit additional supporting documents, such as one additional letter of recommendation, an updated resume, or an additional two page essay on the topic of your choice." My resume hasn't changed and it would take me ages to get a new LOR, so all I can send is an additional essay. I see two options:

1) Send a traditional LOCI (what I've been up to; why I still love Penn). I haven't been up to much, alas, and I already explained why I love Penn in the optional essay I submitted with my application.

2) Send a second essay on one of the "optional essay" topics. I could probably write something interesting about the work of art that most influenced my decision to study the law.

Any thoughts?

I would go with Option #2. It adds more *new* things to your application, and you can always throw in a tastefully worded line about how much you love Penn. I'm going with the second option myself (waitlisted) but since I didn't submit any optional essays to begin with, I guess I'll have my pick of topics...

I sent in a 5th LOR and a why penn. The admissions office actually wrote back and acknowledged it, which was nice. Maybe since the hold pool is so small. I really hope it bodes well. Penn or Berk are the only schools other than the HYS that would pull me away from GULC.

What's the longest people have had to wait between their 2nd UCR and the final decision? Usually it's about a week at most right, I don't see much longer. People who went UCR #2 last week still in limbo, Friday must be the day right?

I dont have regular/unfettered access to internet (Afghanistan). Can someone sum up what's going on with Penn? I was held a few weeks ago via email. Bunch of acceptances with handful of rejects? What are we looking at here? I dont have time to read a lot of interwebbingz.

I've been sitting at second UCR 1/3 (complete 10/26) and nothing since. No hold, no waitlist, no rejection. I think I'm being YP'd but I'm not sure why -- my numbers aren't outrageously high and I wrote a Why Penn...

Edit: But I think I'm the exception, not the norm. So you'll probably hear back on Friday. GL!

I went UCR on 1/20, but the date changed again on 1/23. But on 1/20 the language was "Your application is currently in the queue for review by the Admissions Committee." On 1/23, the language changed to "Your application is currently under review with the Admissions Committee."

If you had two UCRs, was it both times "currently under review" or "currently in the queue for review"?

I don't know for sure. Mine currently says "currently under review" and I am on 2nd UCR. I want to say it said that before my 2nd UCR as well, but can't be sure.

First I had one in queue for review - I don't think it counts as UCR
Then I had one under committee review and another one on 30/01. And now I'm waiting!

I wish! But I doubt it . . . so far Penn has done only Wednesday and Friday decisions . . . I think . . . just my own research since I stalk this thread all day long . . . Nothing pathetic about that at all . . . LOL
